Liam on the Antonio train but saying West Ham not keen on selling.

West Ham without Antonio are even more in the shit than now. I would be staggered if they sold, unless we offered a huge sum and tapped him up to go on strike, which I wouldn't feel comfortable about at all.

West Ham are after a forward and no doubt our interest has been put out there to see if he fancies the move

The inference yesterday was that the club have more or less privately acknowledged that they paid over the odds for Cunha to get him through the door, but they won't be doing that for anyone else in this window.

Not that he did brilliantly for them, but West Ham (and indeed anyone in the conversation for relegation) will be having a look at Burnley selling Chris Wood to Newcastle last January, and which one went down and which one stayed up.

The Cunha deal gives the impression we are there to be taken to the cleaners. If that was a one time only deal it's not a surprise we are struggling to get other moves over the line. Teams will want to milk us for what they can so unless it blocks their own business they’ll leave it as late as possible

Hobbs said in his interview that we acknowledge it's already a difficult window to recruit in so we're aware we may need to pay over the odds to get players in, especially as we're unappealing because we're in the relegation zone. So it's now funny that they've gone back on that awareness/stance, with only one player through the door.

We didn’t overpay for Cunha. We paid what the selling club were willing to accept. We might have wanted to pay less, that’s probably the case for most transfer fees. The club are just lining up the excuses for 1 Feb.

Kiefer Moore anyone?

Atletico fans generally seemed delighted when we were linked before.

Is there not a capable CB out there under 30 we can find?

He’s pretty solid, has a nasty side to his game (similar to Costa, in that it’s alright so long as he doesn’t cross the line), adds experience to our squad and in fairness, even though he’s getting on a bit in football terms, I think he’d be an improvement on current form Kilman.

Probably be quite cheap, too.

I'd be happy with him. Slightly concerned that I'm going to watch Atleti next week with my son and not sure who will be left in the team or on the bench that we know, or isn't already at, or visiting, Molineux soon!

Y'all are setting the bar high for this guy's handsomeness.

Not sure you can sniff at +250 games for Atleti and Porto. He'll bring badly needed experience at the back and if he's a bit of a bastard I've zero problems with that either. We've been soft as shite way too often this season
