The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Give me Toti over Dawson every day of the week. He may be rash and a bit out of his depth but he's not dirty. Dawson is a thug. I don't want that shit anywhere near the club.
Today's fun fact, Neves has more yellows in his career than Dawson.

DO. NOT. WANT.

Shit. Turning circle of the Amoco Cadiz.
It's ok, he won't be sent to you if we sign him. You won't be lumbered with him (although could make a decent companion on your scheduled flight out of the country)

Definitely a pre-Lopetegui target, presume it has his blessing if there's anything in it

I think the days of the manager accepting anything they are given ended when we hired Mr JL
Nearly 33, on the decline and no resale value. Can't see JL playing him if he's not his player.

A bit like Lemina, this is just crap squad building.

I don't see the point in this at all.

I see the point. We are an injury away from having no back up centre backs, bar Mosquera (who really needs to go out on loan)

Wouldn't be my choice but I don't think JL is taking anything put his way. IF we sign Dawson, I would presume it would be on a short term contract (his current deal at West Ham ends this summer). Comes in, helps in whatever way he can then waves bye bye and joins Watford or something.
IF we sign Dawson, I would still want us to sign another

I would rather just sign the another
Absolutely. But I wouldn't say no to getting an experienced body in whilst we also try and sign that other. If we end up going all the way to the end of the window chasing that CB then end up missing out on him, I don't want to see us panic buying any CB that's available just for the sake of it.

Yeah, very odd that he was on our radar initially when Lage was now in charge, and now we're back in for him with Lop. Suggests maybe Lop doesn't have as much sway on recruitment as we first thought? Although as others have said above, maybe he's just willing to take anything at this point!

Dawson is just a solid, no frills centre back. Won't get the fanbase excited but won't really let us down either. I have no doubt in my mind that we can do our lot better and the majority of our recruitment team are not fit for purpose.

If the other West Ham player is Lanzini then I'd be happy with that, because I think he can play that role in behind the striker very nicely, but I thought that might be where Cunha will end up playing and we'd sign an actual centre forward. So God knows.

Plus West Ham have been shite this season (I know we have too), but as direct rivals of theirs, why would they sell to us unless we were horrifically overpaying?

Don't get it.

Dawson is ok but he seems a strange player to have targeted two windows in a row. I would have expected Julen to have his own CB targets.
Could well be that targets he has are not prepared to come to the bottom 3 of the Prem or fancy joining a relegation battle

Newcastle had it last year with a couple of players who turned them down as they didn't want to be in a relegation battle (one of them chose Everton...and ended up in a relegation battle anyways)

and who knows, JL might be a fan of a shithouse, threat at corners, elbows out defender

Suppose the other thing we have to remember is we currently have 1 target - stay in this league. Nothing else matters.
So if that means signing a couple of battle hardened players to try and help drag us over the line then so be it. Worry about the fancy, get us excited transfers until the Summer (ignoring we have already spent £35m on one player of course)

Couple of things. I don't see why West Ham would sell us any player unless we pay significantly over the odds.

Lop said he wanted a bigger UK influence in the dressing room, so an old fashioned, hairy arsed centre half ticks that box
