He seemed to meet everyone else at Compton, including the canteen staff before the actual manager.
Poor old GoN can do no right in some people's eyes!

;)

Bellegarde's first day

I have to remember we're only being given a snapshot of training with these videos. Otherwise if just feel embarrassed for GoN and his sessions.

And nothing projects embarrassment more than than a sentence that makes no sense, then I remind myself it's just a snapshot of your literacy ;)

Joke :)

His training sessions do seem very similar to the ones we used to do at school...

I think the most likely reason for this is that after a career in football as a player working under different managers, going on accredited.coaching courses and having a few years experience of coaching and management he concluded that the very best football coaching is the knowledge that was imparted to him by his old school PE teacher.

Yes. That seems the most likely.

You've not done an accredited course have you?

This may surprise you, but passing the ball back and forth and then running as quick as we can to put a cone on top of a pole is exactly what my secondary school PE teacher had us doing to warm up!

In itself there's absolutely nothing wrong with it as a part of a dynamic warm up. If it's an integral part of the main body of training then it would be a concern.

Despite being a young coach it wouldn’t surprise me if GON is one who still prefers to do the stuff he did when he came through 20+ years ago

Why would that be a surprise to me? This may surprise you but I went to school.

Why do you think that?

Just a feeling, no particular reason other than I know he didn’t do much tactically at Bournemouth. Just seems like a hard work stay structured type coach, rather than one who’s taking a more modern approach like Potter for example.

I thought the opinion on GON from Bournemouth fans was that he overthought things and at times was too much of a tinkerer, both tactically and with teams?

Bournemouth fan in the office said it was some of the worst football and game management he'd ever seen.

Tactically inept were his words.

I can't remember the last time I saw a manager that hands on in training sessions. Seems strange nowadays, not a criticism just odd to see.
