Sort of see where you're coming from, especially your last point which I do agree with. However, there's a directness to his play that I think suits a #9 (or "second striker", if you like, either way). He will drift wide at times but I don't see that as a fault with him as a striker, I see that more as indicative of how goal-shy our wingers tend to be that his movement doesn't always/ever pay dividends.He's generally anywhere but upfront when he's meant to be playing there leaving a gaping chasm which none of our players seem capable of running into.
He 'could' play as a false 9 but we'd need to sign players in the Salah & Mane ilk.
He also seems to do a lot of his best work picking the ball up around midfield.
I get where the arguments not to play him there come from, but I think he's capable of it. Whether or not things actually play out that way is another question.
