The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

It’s been a depressing enough thread but I think I’ve got it in me to make it worse by pointing out this story would also make Darren Fletcher right about something, the unbearable git :(

@Dire Wolf As I said, their ownership of the club has been a positive. Unlikely for the amount we'd be sold for that it would be to charlatans. Not sexy enough to be leveraged like Utd and too expensive for chancers. Just not a fan of this model
I agree the Mendes connection leaves me with a level of discomfort. I'm just not certain we would be in a better position without Fosun. I'd happily ditch Shi, but I think we might struggle to find owners that can provide the financial clout that Fosun have delivered.

Who’s out there to buy us if fosun do sell?
Dodgy regime wanting to sportswash its image,
American billionaire,
Dodgy Kazakh businessman?
You’d probably be looking at a dodgy businessman looking to money launder from where in the world though who knows

Based on the ownership of other clubs I think we need to be careful what we wish for. We could get owners like Newcastle (preferably minus the links to vile despotic regimes) or we could owners like West Brom, or Forest, or Derby... It all looks great until it doesn't.

Nah that’s just safety thinking bit like saying don’t sack the manager because the new one could be worse.
Our current owners are in the process of jumping on the big huge snake that takes you back to square one. Their decision making since august 2020 is nothing short of atrocious and the reason we’ve gone from top 6 contenders to one of the relegation favourites.

Yep should get a good English owner like Karl Oyston, Ken Anderson, Mike Ashley or Steve Dale.

Ashley gets bad press but Newcastle were never in any danger with him in charge.

Financially, no. He actually put a lot of their finances in good order. He just stopped investing in the team and the season he sold up they were going down if that deal hadn't gone through.

Jim Ratcliffe is the best we could hope for.

No idea. Seems highly rated in South America though
So were Pity Martinez and Esequiel Barco. They were both mediocre to horrendous in MLS and have been jettisoned. A lot of that blame could be levelled at Atlanta's bad managers since Martino left, but still...

I'm very cynical about Argentinian exports at the moment.

EDIT: I think I've made this exact post 3 or 4 times. Apologies for being a broken record.

We've been linked with Alcaraz before.
