The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

The whispers are saying he's at Molineux today
Surely they’re been photo evidence by now if that was the case? Keen & Judah look to be away with PTS this weekend. So no news from them.

Which would give us enough for Scott down payment and with the Raul money trigger Elvedi's release fee at €7.7m

Then you've got Giles, Sanderson and Sarkic money too.

There's something else at play and I don't know what it is.
yep, even on those numbers looks enough to deliver both. Why I always thought we were still in for Scott despite the letter. If generous we could say it’s a tactic :)

I've a theory, it's not my opinion, I've not a clue what's going on at the club...

But we're not spending before we sell because needing to sell to offset what we've already spent will encourage lower bids for our players...

Selling them first improves the club's position in the market as FFP is currently adhered to. We're not chasing losses like we would if we bought first.

Neves books in at £3m?? That’s a laugh. His contract in terms of the rules was done so he books in at £47m
well I didn’t check but thought he had a year left. Must be less than £3 which was £15/5. No matter as worst case proves the point.

Today's performance, to cap off a very positive pre season, has just made this summer's transfer window all the more frustrating for me.

There's a really healthy level of competition all throughout this squad apart from in a few key areas. Like JL has said, he isn't asking for much. 2 players of the right profile and quality level and we're looking like a seriously good football team.

Some damage has been done by the time we've wasted over the last few months but it's not too late. There's still time to make these signings, hopefully we get the players Lopetegui wants and he can integrate them successfully ahead of the new season.

If we leave it as it is, or worse sell players from this core group who look so impressive, then we'll lack the depth and flexibility to do anything other than tread water.

Jeff Shi said trust the process.

I think Fosun will be quite content with treading water this season on basically zero transfer outlay. My hope is that they'll genuinely be able to open the taps in a more consistent, if less splashy, manner after this year.

Entirely possible I'm being naïve but that's my own cross, I suppose.

Neves I guess in books at £3m, Coads all profit, Collins assuming £20m cost so £4m amort + £3m profit. So all in £58m profit less any commissions and 3rd party % (any?).
Can't be arsed to go back through all our players contracts, or how much we payed upfront, but Guedes will cost nearly 10m, Cunha another 10m, Nunes nearly 10m etc, do people forget these payments have to come out this years income?

Not this again.

If you started a new job and they promised you a new company car, corner office, 4 new members of staff and your own tea lady but only delivered 50% of that and then told you 6 months later you're not getting the rest at all, how would you feel?

You don't need the job and could get one easier elsewhere, your new boss is a lying arsehole and your expected to do the same job regardless of this weasel.

I'd walk too.
I see this one from both sides, ultimately Julen unhappy and making it vocal.

Also doesn’t help Fosun don’t have much stock with wolves fans, whereas lop stock is high after last season (tbf a pidgeons stock would be high after mr Lage)

That being said, I’d rather the dirty laundry be aired behind closed doors abit more.

"Trust the process" is a sporting meme; basically the sanitized version of "it's gonna get worse before it gets better" that execs trot out when things are definitely about to get worse in the short term.

It's a joke, basically.

Is it an American joke?

I've always translated it as "we know what we're doing, and you haven't got a clue, so stop whinging or fuck off"

Depends on how much the owners actually care about the fans, but yeah! That's the gist.

More like "we hope it's gonna work out in the end."

that post was a reaction to an earlier post suggesting we’d need to make £50m net profit in transfers to ensure we made an overall profit for FFP. Meaning, before transfers we’d make close to a £50m loss including taking those amortisations you refer to into account. so not ignoring anything though I doubt anyone outside the club can vouch the numbers/headroom.

Your maths is out by quite a lot.

The money for those we've sold are balancing the payments out.

Our revenue is huge (over £180m) and we've just lopped £26m off this years wage bill.
