The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Very unlikely as he is always pictured at socials with his teammates.

Also, don’t think we should be reading too much in to that post about Scott considering there was a post earlier saying we were preparing a “third and final offer”.
The most recent post is Pete O'Rourke though, he's usually fairly reliable.

There's no "ahead" in this particular race though. Either someone makes a bid that Bristol City deem acceptable (Bournemouth haven't, we haven't, no-one has) or he's not going anywhere particularly soon.

The pass Podence gets in some circles is unbelievable, IMO.

He’s closer to a Harlem Globetrotter than a Premier League footballer.

Really? I would say he gets a lot of shit. When in truth as frustrating as he is and he is a shitehawk he still popped up with important goals and was our most creative player in the final third.

An exceptionally low bar.

He’s a squad unto himself, I can’t abide players like that.

Low bar definitely and we need much better but i find it bizarre when you look at his output compared to others. His behaviour obviously goes against him more than it should for me.

It’s specifically his rank decision making that riles me to such a degree.

I’d be a complete Pickford were I a footballer so really I can’t rightly hold Pod up for his antics.

Totally agree. He stepped up with some big goals last season and we have had players with worse attitudes than Podence.
Gibbs White being a recent example.

But he's currently Roger Johnson-ing it training on his own. JL would have to do a 180 to bring him back into the team.
Don't know if Podence was posting old photos yesterday, but on Instagram it looked like he was somewhere slightly warmer than Compton.

Ultimately we have one chance to sell Podence for any kind of reasonable fee and it's this month. Come January he can agree a free transfer to a non-English club. So why would you risk him getting injured in friendlies, plus Lopetegui doesn't even use him much to start with. 8 league starts since he came in, and 4 of them were in his first three weeks in charge.

Doesn't need to have been a fall out as such, he just isn't part of the picture.

I think it can be good in the long run swapping out a lot of deadwood and players that are underperforming but then we should be able to sign somebody to remain in the prem..which is the main priority and will be tough to do that when I look on the other teams..you know that newcomers always overperform because of the hype to play in the prem the first season..so, Im genuinly worried

That's genuinely not true, the opposite is accepted by most managers and pundits, players coming in from over seas, tend to take the first season to come to terms with the pace of the prem.

I forget which Liverpool player Klopp was talking about when he said. He ignores the first year of a new signing, as it takes a year to adjust

Really going with the we have no money guv'nor approach

I am not one to over react but if any of these stories coming out are true, I can only see us looking for a new manager on the 1st September
My initial reaction was it could be well before 1 September but I think he’d wait until window closes and then say his goodbyes. Probably be a vacancy in Saudi by then.

I get that the natural assumption here is "we're just not willing to spend", but it's also possible that we simply don't think Elvedi is worth what Gladbach are asking, isn't it?
