The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Two things can be true.

For Podence the player, I'm glad he's not involved. For Podence the guy, it probably feels a bit shitty to get left behind while the rest of the squad goes and plays football.
What I mean is he wouldn't be staying behind out of spite, there'll be a good reason for it. Either he's injured and needs treatment or he's off soon and needs to stay in England for medicals/etc.

Bet he's Luton's most expensive signing this summer by a distance. They aren't spending much.
They can afford to spend a bit more if they really want him. We have Boro who'd give us the same £5m if they refused so we wouldn't be losing anything by asking for more. Whether that would piss the player off is another matter though

a ) No they can't
b) Makes no difference to us where he goes, that's the price

I hope it means there is genuine interest in him. Getting new bodies in won’t happen if players are sat on their arses seeing their contracts out.
Not many of us like Podence for a variety of reasons but he isn't total rubbish, is he. If we're offering him out at ~£10m and he isn't on huge money that needs matching, someone will take him.

He'll go down as one of the more frustrating players I've seen for us in the last 20 years as he has loads of ability but his decision making is so poor at times and there's simply no consistency there.

Always thought he had something, but in to many games he looked like he was having a kick about with mates down goals.

One of those where you rarely walk away and say "Podence was alright today". He's either excellent, good or dreadful, with far too many of the latter category.

I liked it when he scored past Square Face Foster from 30 yards.

My fondest memories of Podence were when I looked at this stats.
I've grown to really dislike Podence but there were some good times. Scored some quality goals for us.

I'll be glad to see the back of him though, especially if we can get something like £10M+ for him.

Each to their own...

I could call him Rubber Leg Foster if you prefer.

Excellent goal away at Arsenal, was that when Raul got smashed?
Yeah. Lovely touch to lift it over the defender. I was excited at the prospect of him as the 10 behind a striker with Neto and Adama either side of him. Think Nuno only ever tried it a couple more times.

Again he's one of those weird players we've collected that doesn't really have a position. He isn't a winger as such, he doesn't seem to like playing #10 and he isn't a false 9 or second striker.

All things being equal I'd sooner get rid of Hwang who contributes nothing but no-one is going to buy him, they have eyes.

Give me Hwang over Podence every time.

I'd rather keep Adama than Pod (just). I think Podence gets a massive pass for being an absolute atrocious decision-maker on the ball.
