Give me Hwang over Podence every time.

I'd rather keep Adama than Pod (just). I think Podence gets a massive pass for being an absolute atrocious decision-maker on the ball.
If you can explain what Hwang does then I'm all ears.

Other than make me think I might still have a chance as I don't control the ball 30 yards.

It's not the first time I've said that I think the extent to which Hwang's footballing ability gets bashed is, IMO, way over the top.
His technical ability for someone playing as an attacker at this level is atrocious Alan. Think he’s got the worst first touch I’ve seen.

Julen does understand how to use him though. Give him as little link up, creative play to do as possible. He’s good at pressing, wide or centrally and does get in the box hence why he’s scored some tap ins for us (albeit not many).

I've seen him have great first touches and awful ones. I've seen that from a lot of our players recently.

FWIW the per 90 stats basically put Hwang and Podence on equal footing, just the one goal contribution separating them.

I'd almost forgotten my favourite Hwang move when he's played nominally up front, ball gets played long towards him, runs straight into a centre half, free kick to them. Doesn't even try to win it in the air or hold it up. 10 times a game.

That also annoys the piss out of me but those fouls are so fucking weak, shouldn't be given. But equally Hwang has to know that they will be (I've said as much before).

The shit defenders get away with in those situations is embarrassing, honestly. That's beyond the Hwang conversation, though.

Anywho, I'm not dumb enough to think I'm actually going to persuade anyone re: Hee-chan. But I do like to stir the pot with him!

Alan backing away from a statement he made 15minutes earlier 😄

Hwang actually played well upfront against Everton which was a massive surprise. Competed well against Tarkowski

I mean Al, this is a tap in Hwang couldn't miss...

Podence has got talent for sure but not enough to make up for him being a total passenger out of possession in this league. And that’s before we consider he only uses it effectively a small amount of the time

Podence and Hwang are more of an inside forward type of player. But not skillful enough to beat players regularly or score enough goals to be at a top club.

Podence was one of our best players in terms of output (not a high bar), but such a Jeckyl and Hyde unknown quantity from one minute to the next. Never mind from game to game.

I actually think Podence is alright out of possession. He's tiny obviously but he does actually track back and he's got a habit of pressing in the right places and winning the ball back high. Not brilliant at it but well enough that it shouldn't be an issue.

Podence is one of the most skilful players I've seen with the ball, he can beat people at will has a superb touch and fantastic technique.

Sadly his decision making makes Adama seem like Neves

Hwang, Podence, Adama:
F******g sums up my feelings about watching Wolves.
No clue what we are trying to achieve and what shape we are supposed to be.
Glimpses of what might be possible but 80-90% frustration.
Add Ait Nouri, Vinagre, Trincao, Guedes, Vitinha, the list goes on.........

Maybe, I know he doesn’t not try. Just can’t get past him trotting around puffing his cheeks like he’s towing a caravan. And any sort of physical confrontation he may as well not be there getting breezed past and I don’t think height/size should be a defining issue there. Moutinho put himself about plenty and someone like Gary Medel was “combative” in a much more physically demanding position

Podence probably has it a bit unfair in my eyes because it's obvious he can do just about anything he wants to with the ball, he just makes the wrongest possible decision 99 times out of 100.

There's definitely going to be incomings in the attacking positions soon. I dont usually subscribe to the "we wouldnt let them go if we hadnt got someone close" line but Podence is going to go, Adama already gone so I very much doubt (hope) they'd loan out Chiquinho without being confident of at least one in. We do have a number of other attacking players but weirdly some of them don't seem to be suited to playing wide or as a 10.

I expect only 1 before the season starts, but it would not surprise me if there were none.
Only 1 I am expecting is the midfielder from Brizzle .

Not expecting us to spend a penny.

Worst thing will be if we start ok, then the cheque book will stay closed until we are rooted bottom 3 in Jan
