The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Would be very odd to me if RAN (and Podence) were still here by season start, JL hardly used them, preferring Toti to RAN sometimes.

Anyway we don't need any more FBs as we all know Doc can cover RB and LB😁

If Giles impresses then we'll probably sell RAN.

If we were bringing in Giles for £5-10m as a new recruit I'm sure we'd all say it's a sensible, no-lose punt on a kid with a great Championship pedigree

If we are pinning our hopes of this season on the likes of Giles, Cundle, Hodge and Fraser - it’s gonna be a pretty horrific time.

They might be ok in the Championship but, if we have any serious aspirations of being a top half PL side, they’re nowhere near.

I love the romance of the home grown youth players but none of ours have been good enough for years, unfortunately.

MGW is a good player and PL quality.

Cundle and Giles will be too (I think they're both ready now). Fraser I would keep and could play cup games for us this season or go out on a 6 month loan to the Championship. Chem Campbell is a good prospect too, probably at Championship level right now.

I'd hope Lonwijk takes the same route as Toti as I think there's a good player in there.

Lembikisa is a Championship level RB at the moment. Hoever I would keep as I think he'll do well under Lop if his head's right

Griffith's could surprise a few this season as if he can stay fit he has a higher ceiling than most of our midfielders.

Pond is already a physical beast and Championship level. Bit agricultural but then so is Dawson. Could be an astute piece of business in a few seasons.

Agree with all these bar Hoever, Esen is very highly rated at the club too, I think Roberts will do well at Doncaster, Chiwome is very young but right at the head of the queue for forwards in his age group, plays every game for England

You're arguing a point that hasn't been made. No one has suggested any of those four should be locked in first XI players. We want transfers coming in for that and then hopefully with the deadwood cleared out they have a chance from bench to cover or compete during season.

For example at striker position I see the best case scenario being
Sasa/New ST to compete for #1 role with the other off the bench as impact sub, then Fraser to cover them in cups and in case of injury.

If Jonny and RAN leave, then that leaves Giles to compete with just Bueno (still young himself) and Toti who's probably better suited at CB anyway.

The other two are midfield depth and low priority, depends on how the formation will shape up.

There is still a requirement to bring in further money to eradicate any fears of future punishment for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations, following the club’s mammoth spend last season.
Players such as Raul Jimenez, Daniel Podence and Jonny Castro Otto could all make way this summer if acceptable offers are received.
Yet the push for Scott’s signature has the full support of Wolves owners Fosun and the second bid is expected in the next 48 hours.”

Sounds like he is Julen’s top target

Surely the first part of that is bollocks unless we go on a massive spending spree

I'm glad we're going back in for Scott. I don't know enough about him but the reports of us pulling out of the race after the first bid was rejected were a little disheartening considering he's clearly been our #1 target for a while.

You can't tell a lot from highlights but what you can clearly see straight away is that his ball carrying and range of passing is absolutely outrageous. He might be at the higher end of our budget right now but in a few years he could be worth 3 or 4 times what we pay for him this summer.

Going back in so presume we have agreed stuff with the player before doing so.
So if accepted it can move along swiftly.

So what’s the number for Scott at which point we decide Brizzle are fleecing us?

Just curious, genuinely.
