add to that Felipe, possibly Gomes, and maybe even more. it makes a mockery of shi and sellars telling us it is ‘notoriously difficult’ to make good signings in january every year!
Its not just those 2 though is it. Nearly every club will say the same, if they don't sign 5 or 6 players (and most don't)

The elephant in the room is the striker.

West Ham have got Ings, Forest have got Wood - that’s two of our rivals undoubtedly strengthened. Whatever you’re opinion of them as players, they will get goals.

We need a striker. We absolutely must get one.
We'll see where Sarabia fits in first.

Not sure about Felipe, not heard many good things about him and although we need some experience I don't think we need him and Dawson. Need to be careful of adding too many on the wrong side of 30.
I suppose the way to look at is, he does like flipping to 5 at the back at points in the game. He does that now, we use all our CB's (Mosq not even close to being trusted right now, so not in the picture). So Dawson arriving gives us 1 spare in that scenario.
1 injury or suspension and we are back to using all options we have.

Agree.

We absolutely have improved our forward line in this window already. I really like Cunha and Sarabia looks like an astute signing. Said it many times but our main problem IMO was the lack of chances we created, let alone how many goals we score. We will create more and score more with these guys in the side, Podence looks better under Lopetegui and Neto is hopefully not too far away from a return.

I'd be happy with both Dawson and Felipe, and if we get them both in, that's a very decent window.

Sure, Gomes would be great and if we can bring in another centre forward, wonderful - but I don't think we've done badly at all this month. We've actually done better than I thought we would, and there are still 11 days remaining.

I agree about the shot creation, we hardly ever score tap ins, rely too much on worldies and individual bits of brilliance.
As you say Gomes would be great, especially if we lose one of our better CMs but we're not desperate for him currently.

If Sarabia wants to actually score goals rather than dick around, that would be an improvement on most of our forwards. I imagine that's the case.

I also think Dawson, as daft as it sounds, will score a few for us too before the season is over

Is he going to stand in front of the first man on corners?

Disagree with this and suggest it comes with a touch of parochialism. Apologies as I don’t mean that personally. I have however heard some suggest that playing for Atletico Madrid is a comparable or even higher standard than West Ham, the heretics. Even though they only have to play La Liga teams each week and aren’t forged in the fire of regularly playing Brentford and Bournemouth.

Feel free to insert the Jesus Vallejo argument winner here 🙂

I'd see Dawson & Felipe bringing in valuable experience which will benefit not only Collins & Kilman but some of the younger CBs at the club too.

One thing that is noticeable with all these signings is Lopatron really upping the aggression stakes.

Lemina, Dawson, Felipe (potentially Gomes) and even Cunha to a degree. All very front foot, win the ball back aggressive players.

I think we have been too soft in the last 18 months.

Realistically I think (hope) that’s correct. It’s been a pretty terrible partnership. Would much rather have Collins / Dawson with Felipe on the bench. Possible Max if we want to go 3 atb

Snotters mate. Been crying out for them for years.

Are Dawson and Felipe right footed/sided?
Pretty sure Dawson only uses his head, Phil Jones style

Thing is there are plenty of examples where defenders from La Liga have looked good over in Spain and turned out shite over here an example is Llorente from Leeds who they paid 30m for and he is terrible. Of course there are examples that go the other way but from what I've seen the fan opinion is pretty unanimous on Felipe, that he is bad. I do get the idea of it if we are going to play a 5 more often but I personally hope that doesn't happen as the makeup of the squad on the whole seems to suit 4 at the back much more. We have performed way better with a 4 since Lopetegui came in anyway.
