The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

I see the American Food and Drug Administration (Can't remember its real title) has approved as fit for human consumption, the development of LABORATORY GROWN CHICKEN!!
Grown from cells in lab.
No real food, no real sunshine, no real exercise, just grown in a petri dish...
Probably come in a wide range of flavours too...
Can't wait.

At least it 'has' been approved by the FDA.
Sounds totally gross and would I eat it? No!
However to my understanding most supplements, vitamins, dietary medications over here don't even make it to the FDA for approval and most go to market as 'unknowns' and untested and are labeled as
'Not to cure, diagnose or treat any illness and not reviewed by the FDA'

You know they aren’t growing actual chickens with beaks and feathers etc, don’t you?

I would cunningly suggest 1971 as it is dual priced.
Thats gotta be close. Took my missus to a Berni when we started going out in 1978, in my mind the prices were £3.50 for 3 courses, that would be soup or prawn cocktail to start, steak and then Rum Baba or banana longboat to finish (bottle of Liebfraumilch or Mateus Rose to drink😅

Well, I would imagine not, but that said, I cannot conjure up an image of what it would look like...
I suppose if they're growing the fucking thing from scratch, they could come up with a brilliant bit of square packaging and 'grow' the thing into it.
'Look! it's easily stackable, easy to slice, handy loaf shaped slices, etc...'

That's a pretty accurate description.

Years ago, I worked in a company and for a bit of fun they came up with a perspex cube with one detachable side. This piece of plastic had a hole drilled into it...
They put this piece over a young shoot on a tomato plant, attached the rest of the cube to this with a couple of elastic bands and over a few months grew a square tomato. I think they grew about 10 all together. It was a bit heavy so it all had to be supported, but the selling point was when you slice it you get 4 slices of tomato on a piece of bread with absolutely no wasted space!
Hardly a commercial enterprise but a good bit of fun as a team building exercise. (Remit: To make something that doesn't as yet exist)
They tried a long one for a finger roll but that wasn't so good...

Just cooking an easy slow cooker beef stew.
750g diced beef.
Season beef with salt, pepper, steak seasoning, paprika. Seal with veg oil.
Add carrots, leaks, add butter and a bit of flour. Touch of red wine. Bit of beef stock.
Add Tomato puree, rosemary, thyme and mixed herbs.
Slow cooker low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 to 5 hours. Top up with water if required.

So easy, so quick to prepare, so delicious.

Love beef in slow cooker. Only issue is sometimes trying to thicken up. Have used a bit of flour and added cornflower at the end but still like water sometimes (cooked all day so like 8 hours)

Try thickening granules instead of flour. Won't get lumpy and doesn't taste floury.

Cornflour slurry (cornflour and Water in a jug). Mix in and low heat, if it’s still not thick enough then make some more slurry.

You can’t just add flour directly or it will be lumpy.
