The Goggle Box Thread

Sneaky Pete on Amazon is a decent watch.

Watched half of the first episode (before falling asleep) and it looked decent. Heard good things about it as well.

Watching Helix on Netflix and it's pretty shit.

Yeah, been really enjoying it so far. Easy to watch, clever enough without being up itself, decent characters and a good sense of humour.

Not sure if this has been mentioned on here or not, but there's a new drama starting on the BBC this weekend about an alternative reality where Britain is under Nazi rule called SS-GB.

Trailer:

Looks promising. I've not seen The Man In The High Castle yet but thinking I probably should - this has obviously been compared to it.

The man in the High Castle is very good. The second series gets a bit lost in the middle but is very good towards the end (I've one last episode). Looking forward to SS-GB too and if you like the alternate reality stuff than Robert Harris book Fatherland.

I've always liked the idea but haven't really read anything about it (I've never even played Castle Wolfenstein!) so I'll look up that book. Cheers Johnny.

I'm looking forward to SS-GB.

The Man in the High Castle is well worth a look too. It shows not just the Nazi's but the Japanese and there's a good dose of sci-fi in there as well. Bends your mind a bit, but then that's what Philip K Dick wanted.

I've not read the book (although I think it's a short novella).

Looking forward to it. I recommend the book - Len Deighton is usually great stuff

Also looking forward to SS-GB

Remember reading the book but long enough ago so that I can't remember all of the details as to what happens

SS-Gb

Decent enough start, though just whether it's me & ageing aural systems but struggled with some of the dialogue

Plus the lead looks far too young to be a Superintendent.

James Cosmo is absolutely right for this though.

Just caught up with Cats Does Countdown, and fucking Pappy's Fun Club were in dictionary corner!

Paddy - Look at what you could have won!

Just finished watching Mr Robot season two. An absolute mind fuck of brilliance, even better then season one. Left you on a massive cliffhanger, cant wait for season three.

Getting to the end of High Castle season two and I've loved it, thoroughly enjoyable and I thought it was much better than the first season. The casting, acting, camerawork, script, settings and storyline are all exceptional.

SS - GB

Was a decent book of it's genre, but this is not doing it justice. Difficult to follow (& hear so ended up with the subtitles on tonight) - random sex scenes (& I say that with tongue in cheek as they weren't that revealing) which I am sure weren't in the book, add nothing to the story, but suppose it's what most of the audience expect to see.

Disappointing so far.

I'm struggling with it too Parkin, nothing is actually happening and a lot of it is explaining the plot rather than actual doing. A bit like the actors are reading their parts in an audio book.

It's pretty poor TV at the moment.

Still Broadchurch 3 starting tomorrow - hopefully that will be better

Hope so. I liked Taboo, utterly bonkers but very enjoyable and I think Line of Duty is the best drama on terrestrial TV so I'm looking forward to that.

I think the Beeb, for all of its faults, has made a cracking fist of drama over the last few years. It's clearly where the sports budget has gone!

Agree with that

Agree with that, and No Offence was fair in a comedic way

I hope it is more like the first series. Broadchurch 2 was a terrible disappointment
