The Goggle Box Thread

Thought the 2nd Sherlock was best but I enjoyed them all. None were as good as the first 3 series though.

Only caught up with the third episode of Sherlock last night, enjoyed it, as SLA had already said I thought the girl on the plane thing was a bit predictable, but otherwise great.
ps. liked the cameo of Benedict Cumberbatchs parents as Sherlocks parents :)

Watched it last night too.

Apart from the ludicrous bit where they jumped out of the windows of a first floor flat to escape from a grenade, seemingly unscathed, I very much enjoyed it.

It'll be interesting to see where they take the series from here.

Fun fact: In the montagey bit at the end of Sherlock, where they're putting 221B Baker Street back together, there's a Viking figure lying on the floor. Apparently this is Paul Weller who's a friend of Martin Freeman.

Meanwhile, in other programmes, episode 2 of Taboo kept up the high standard, Mark Gatiss joining the cast.

Another excellent series which I am enjoying, is Endeavour, the prequel to Morse, and Blue Bloods is back for a 7th series.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was it now and the Final episode was a nice back story completion so they can put a pin in it and walk away now.

A Series of Unforunate Events is a decent watch. All 8 Episodes available on Netflix (or other places where you can "borrow" stuff).

Yknow
i saw Paul Weller in the titles at the end and thought....what viking?
Will have to go back and watch again now.

I thought that was the last episode?

Would be a fitting ending to it all.

The writers haven't said if it is or isn't but have said the ending would allow them to move on.

BBC will no doubt want more but just getting the 2 main actors available at the same is getting harder as they have Hollywood careers. 0

Will & Grace will be returning for 10 more episodes for NBC. Really liked it first time round, but always have reservations about revivals. Hope it is good...

Will & Grace was about as funny as Dharma & Gregg. Which isn't very.

I'm still undecided about Taboo. Some good characters in there, but at times it comes over as Hardy indulgence fest.

Luther. Really can't make my mind up whether it's actually decent or really wank. I'll carry on watching it.

Taboo: I thought first episode a bit iffy, but the second very good.

Sherlock: I've never been completely sold on the modern day take on it, or the concentration on the side characters, but once you accept that's what it is, I think it's well written and well acted. i'm really not sure why the last episode would get criticised any more than any other - it seemed to me in keeping with the overall style used.

Luther: it's really good Booz.

Anyone watch American Horror Story?

Just had to suffer through a couple of episodes and it's right up there with some of the worst TV I've ever seen, just completely shit in every aspect from start to finish. Fuck knows how it's ran for so many seasons.

Tried to watch Ronnie O'Sullivan American Hustle but coupled with Matt Smith found it excruciatingly boring.

I tried season one but it was just not my idea of good tv. I struggle with any horror nowadays anyway as it's mostly laughable "scares" which are mostly just attempts to make you jump.

Yeah I know what you mean. I found myself on FFWD most of Ep2. Matt Smith is indeed the brown rice and boiled chicken of TV presenters.

Homeland, Lucky Man, 24... Loads of good stuff on or coming up soon.
