The Goggle Box Thread

After I read David Jason's book a few weeks ago I've been watching Only Fools and Horses in chronological order. It really is brilliantly written - the good episodes are absolutely superb. And there aren't that many substandard ones either. No matter how many times I watch them, the chandelier and the bar fall in particular crack me up every time.

Rodney in the 'Groovy Gang' is my favourite

I've just watched that one. It'd make my top 5, definitely. I did laugh when he bursts through the door wearing his skateboarding gear :icon_lol:

Apparently he a bit of a twat; sneering away at people who worked in McDonalds, etc?

He wasn't sneering at those who work at McDonalds though.

He wasn't but it did look like that. He was sneering at McDonalds not being the type pf company we want on these shores which I thought was snobbish and pathetic. I don't mind Self and he generally has a decent amount worth listening too but last night he was a sneering, condescending arsehole and did himself no favours.

Especially when he could've and should've challenge Mench and her unsavoury views on nearly everything. I thought the Labour MP was also a ranty mouthpiece who had nothing useful to say when challenged. Listening to him you would think Labour are the party in power and when somebody in the audience accused mainstream politicians of saying whatever they wanted and then back tracking on it, he chose to ignore the lady's comment on move onto what he wanted to say. Not in response to a question but just the message he wanted to get across. A truly woeful performance.

Wasnt his point that people should aspire to better jobs than those on offer at McD's?

No, he made his schoolboy sneering comments when Farage said McDonalds were looking to base their European operations here. I imagine McD's has the same kind of back office jobs as most big corporates.

Unless he ignorantly thought McD's were going to open another million restaurants. In which case he was sneering at people who were looking to be employed at McD's. Either way not a success for him.

I am not personally a big Will Self fan. I find him quite obnoxious.

Frankly though, failing to deal with Mensch and Farage should be a definite mark down. That should have been fish in a barrel.

Will's surname suggests who he promotes. However he did comment to Farage that he (Farage) and Trump were " Grubby little opportunists riding the coatails of history".

Finished The Missing a couple of nights ago, it was pretty meh. Nowhere near as good as the first series and the characters were just crap. Never thought I'd be longing for a James Nesbitt appearance.

Started The Exorcist last night, looks pretty promising from the first episode.

I preferred the Real Hustle with Jessica what's-her-name. She was lush as fuck.

I like the older stuff in terms of stories but fucking hell Kelly Adams is sexual chocolate in the later stuff.
