The Goggle Box Thread

Watched the first part of 'Rillington Place' yesterday

Dark & gloomy as you would want & Tim Roth is suitably malevently odd looking as Christie, but either my hearing is worse than I thought, their diction is crap or the sound levels are wrong as lost about 20% of the dialogue. This didn't enhance the programme

Apparently the real Christie could only speak in a whisper after a mustard gas attack in WW1. So the low levels of dialogue were done on purpose

Thought it was ok. I usually love Tim Roth, but Sam Morton stole the show I feel.

So the conclusion to The Missing was much better, thankfully they didn't leave it open like the finale last season.

Still though, I expected it to be better. The last 2 episodes saved the series.

I enjoyed it - I'll search for the first series (pun intended) on kodi.

The Missing was wonderful, way better than the first series, but you have to look over the parent not recognising their child premise.

I agree with that. Ended up on a par with the first one for me.

It's a farce of a show anyway, but Louise Mensch and Nigel Farage will be on Question Time next week :rage:

Mensch makes Farage look like a master of logical, fact based debate. She's genuinely an idiot.

Will not be watching.

Dear BBC,

10 Rillington Place is a disturbing crime story, why have you made a right royal mess by telling less than half the story. Either tell it all or don't bother, it's not like you can write a new script for a 2nd series as it is a historical story.

We all know what the murderer did next, there is no suspense you can build up.

I agree. I was looking forward to it, but they tried to make it into a "whodunnit" when everyone knew who committed the crime. I have found it very disappointing.

Liberal BBC bias:

That programme is turning into the TV equivalent of click bait.

As tempting as it is to see Will Self inevitably take Mensch to pieces...I'm still not going to watch it.

Caught alan yentob doing a show on bbc2 last night in the early hours with danny boyle and all the rest who did the olympics opening ceremony.
Probably repeated, however was really fascinating (hence me being knackered now).
Reminded me even more about how emotional that whole performance was.
