The Goggle Box Thread

Fucking ell!, Master chef, been some shite on there tonight.

I'd like to go on there just to see if Marcus and Monica like salad cream.

They were fucking abominable tonight. Wouldn't be at all surprised to find at least one was a con man without qualifications they were that bad.

Marcus Waring made me laugh last night on Masterchef when he told that South African woman in no uncertain terms at least twice, that strawberry in her risotto wasn't going to work. That was before she'd even cooked it!

His skills test was much harder than Monica's too this week. It's a shame they don't actually count for anything though. They are just there so Marcus and Monica can shake their heads and pull faces for the camera. Once the signature round starts that's all forgotten.

To be honest though, if you get through catering college and can't make tagliatelle carbonara you shouldn't be on the programme. Monica's test sorted the one bloke on the programme who had a vague clue.

Strawberry fish risotto woman was ace. Her comment that she may have lost out as the judges tastes didn't match up to her majestic dish was comical Ali in chef whites.

The Carbonara round should have been a piece of piss for all of them.

The SA woman - "They're not used to these flavours" was a great line from her. Yeah. I'm not used to liver and raspberry either but I can tell you it doesn't work.

I too was astounded by the incompetence on show in last night's Masterchef. Certainly not an advert for their current employers.

Couldn't believe how inept they were at making Tagliatelle Carbonara.

Its my girlfriends favourite dish, so I make it once a fortnight.

I do put a splash of cream in it tbh and also garlic , but even I know, that the original is made using the pasta water and egg, and smoked pancetta. The most important thing is to add the egg yoke and then take the carbonara off the heat, as the heat naturally cooks the egg without scrambling it.

But it is so basic and easy to get right, I couldn't believe the state of it last night.

I made a carbonara once using a slimming world recipe that was an absolute fucking disaster. That was poor ingredient choice (quark cream cheese) and taking my eye off the ball resulting in scrambled eggs.

That recipe that Monica showed really should be a piece of absolute piss and also very very tasty. Any even halfway competent pro should have been able to do it with their eyes closed.

Trust me - it is only the extremity of poor efforts on last night's show that has brought Bear and I together on a food point.

I still think he is at least 999/1000ths food insane.

Maybe it is the latest way with "reality" shows - Have godawful people taking part as that makes people talk more about the show all over forums and social media

The Apprentice this year is staggering - They usually have a few morons thrown in and the better ones then stand out, this year they have all been a disaster. When teams have won it generally hasn't been down to how well they have done but just the fact they were not as shit as the other lot.

You may have a point. The first episode of this series I saw a young chef who could well be the overall winner. She was absolutely brilliant. Since then I have mainly noticed some really poor choices and errors that make me wonder if their idea of catering college is a couple of Saturdays on the grill at a bloody Beefeater.

I think Dylan has done alright, but naive but I think he's savvy enough to end up in the final

Better cooking with the John Dory tonight but Monica's dish is bonkers-maximus

tartare of lamb?? blimey.
