As I said on the match day I just cannot see games going ahead over Xmas to many in a short space of time with teams moving all over the country.

The
London clubs are riddled. Burnley now 2 games behind and the weekends games have to got to be under threat.

As I put in the Corona thread. How many are not getting tested? It’s finding a high % of cases in football clubs due to enforced testing. So it’s probably much higher than reported in the community.
The proportion of people not jabbed in London is 3 times higher than the national average

Millwall v Preston gone, I think the Reading game has too. Unless things improve at Watford I think we will get a Boxing Day off :(

Undoubtedly a factor im sure. But increased, population, denser population, more through traffic from other parts of the country and world too, more use of public transport, more places to go etc. I’d wager those were more significant factors. So combination of all that and you get this situation.

Id imagine initial case growth has always been steeper in London in all waves compared to the rest of the country but haven’t checked data to back that up.

Causing a massive headache for someone who travels away. I can't presently risk booking cheap advance rail tickets with the threat of it all going behind closed doors. Usually like to have everything sorted well in advance.

Reality and unfortunately it just makes sense for an Xmas shutdown. Do away with cup replays.

Leicester v Spurs off.

They should just park it all until the FA Cup after tonight.

They can’t because there is no space to make up fixtures unless you have no break between seasons because of the Qatar abomination

Cup replays need binning off to use that midweek to catch up with fixtures.

Problem is you’ll have some teams way behind on fixtures

Carry on where we can would be my take. Given the infectivity of Omicron I don't think stopping football would have much impact anyway. If the 'background' infections are high when we resume we'd still be getting games suspended.

The only thing that should stop football would be due to further restrictions being required, and even then they could still play behind closed doors.

Can see the Xmas schedule being behind closed doors to

Always clubs that will either prosper or suffer in this situation.

They'll soon change their mind if they cannot play & earn.

I can see it being a standard part of medicals for new signings from next month. Don't have it, we're not signing you then. Bye.
