Soccer AM binned. I know he's a cock, but in the Lovejoy days it was genuinely a good tv programme. Went downhill after he and his production team left
I play golf with Trigger - he’s a scream, loves a beer, and not a bad player either.

Did that half way through his Arsenal contract didn't he?
Such an odd career he had. Can’t take those years at Madrid away from him, though, I suppose.

Was Rene Higuita short for a keeper or are those tall kids he's playing with?

edit: Ironically talking of short keepers scroll down a couple of ads and Jorge Campos is there :)

He was a shortarse. As was Campos in the Nike advert.

Even the authors don't agree with this
Can’t access the article but suffice to say that I think they’re probably wrong.

These LLMs are legitimately going to be a sea-change a la the internet, IMO. Whether they end up being good at tactical analysis in the short term is a mystery. In the medium to long term, I absolutely expect clubs will be integrating their statistical analysis with LLMs of some kind (if they aren’t doing so already).

These things are evolving incredibly quickly.

Sorry, not the article author. The authors of the report on computer AI in football stats which is what the article is about. The report is based on their models.

They said it isn't possible because each counter attack is essentially a snowflake.

That’s pretty interesting. These things are getting good at recognizing images so I’d love to feed it it a stack of screenshots that show the positions of all 22 players at the time the ball turned over just prior to counterattacking goal.

I wonder what kind of patterns it could predict from that.
