The Football News Thread 2020/21

The "you're just jealous you haven't been invited" comment seems to be coming more and more common all over football twitter.

I do think that those big 6 clubs fans will become to develop a siege mentality and it'll become more and more divisive (Klopp's response to the Leeds t-shirts last night was the start of this).

I was surprised to see the Sky stats last night saying that 79% of people disagree with the ESL, that means that 1 in 5 people DO agree with the ESL. That was worryingly high and once the hype train starts that will only become more and more popular.

The majority of people who watch football do so from their armchair so the fact that nearly 80% are ago at this means that the majority who don’t go to matches are probably also against this. If that were to translate into not subscribing to TV packages it might have some impact. Unfortunately, this is not about the domestic football fan whether they attend or watch on pay TV...this whole venture is aimed at “supporters” across the world who might attend a live match once a lifetime. The UK government could prohibit broadcast of SL games in this country and it would barely scratch the surface.

If Govt really want to legislate then they need to ban games being played in this country, the Premier League need to expel all six from domestic competition and then see if the owners are really prepared to rip these clubs out of their communities in the pursuit of money.

From what I have seen JPM will be repaid via the TV rights money. The ESL are expecting a minimum of $4b per year from the main rights holder. I think from that something like $2.3b is split between the clubs, so remove some costings and JPM will be getting a lot back per year
I presume it will be built on sand with JPM over extending themselves and their book, much like the housing bubble. I wouldn't be surprised if they hold short and long positions on some kind of crisis so they are hedging their bets.

Fucking parasites.

Fair to say that Guardiola is against it...

No promotion or relegation

Is that good?

It is not sport when the relation between effort and success doesn't exist. It’s not a sport when it doesn’t matter if you lose. It’s not fair if teams fight at the top and cannot qualify”.”

Edit: Other than that he's playing a straight bat to all of the questions. Everyone looking after their own interests and not in knowledge of the full details etc etc.

PSG have publicly announced their opposition.

Dodgy looking penalty too. Ref was a homer so football needs a way of looking at these sorts of incidents in depth.

I'll be on my own here, but I find the social media stuff childish

There is plenty of serious discussion. No problem with having a bit of a laugh too

Premier League meeting has finished... A CEO has said in a message to TalkSport "there is more to be announced. Today is a BIG day"

100% guarantee they are. The US owners of the "dirty dozen" do not care an iota about the fans. Look at the NFL. The owners there are prepared to take a club from one city and plonk it in another without even considering their fans.

You think they give a shit about anything other than money? They would sell their granny for an extra 10 bucks!

They have made the classic yank mistake though. Showing their hand before they have all their ducks in a row. That will bite them in the arse.

Any link other than a twitter one to what they have announced? I'm at work with a 1980's browser. It only has 3 channels.. :ROFLMAO:
