Bolton and Bury have been given an extension to 5pm to satisfy the EFL that they will be able to meet their commitments to the season, though the EFL said it is "likely" their opening league games will be suspended.

22 team league 1 looks like it could happen.

Looking very likely Bolton are more of a shit show than usual and Bury have just been very badly ran they don’t have a safety certificate for the ground yet so they’ll probably not be playing there first home game anyways

"Further to the EFL’s statement issued earlier on Monday 29 July 2019, the following updates can be provided:
BOLTON WANDERERS

At its meeting today, the EFL Board was appraised of the position in regard to the outstanding information requested in respect of ongoing matters at Bolton Wanderers.

The Board has fully considered the Club’s further submissions and is satisfied that they are sufficient to meet the requirements of the League subject to the completion of formal documentation.

As a result the EFL Board has opted not to suspend their opening day fixture with Wycombe Wanderers and it will remain as originally scheduled on Saturday 3 August 2019 at 3pm.

BURY

Following continued and comprehensive discussions with the ownership at Bury and other interested parties throughout Monday, the EFL Board is not satisfied it has received the necessary evidence in regard to the outstanding information it requires that demonstrates how the Club will be funded moving forwards.

As a result of not meeting Monday’s 5pm deadline, which had been extended on two previous occasions, the EFL Board feels it has been placed in an unenviable position and, regrettably, has opted to take the reluctant decision to suspend Saturday’s opening day fixture with MK Dons under the provision of EFL Regulation 28.2.

In addition, the EFL Board, if not in possession of the necessary evidence by 12pm on Friday 2 August 2019, will make a determination as to whether to suspend Bury’s away fixture at Accrington Stanley on Saturday 10 August 2019.

As has been the case throughout this entire process, the EFL will continue to offer its full assistance to the ownership at Bury, but remains clear that while the League is here to support the Club through some extremely complex and complicated issues, the outstanding matters can only be resolved with the cooperation from the Club itself."

Heartbreaking for Bury, would be a shame for a team not called Bolton to be expelled from the football league

I worry about their Chairman too. Sounds like he has bitten off way more than he can chew and his media appearances now sound like windmilling. I think they are going to go pop.

Hasn't he said this week that he is battling terminal cancer?

Leukemia but no idea about the level of it. Obviously any level won't be a good thing.

Think Bury are going to the wall very sad, they were in dire straits a few years back to. Re-occurring nightmare for the fans.
Might be better all round starting again further down the pyramid.

Given their connections to the club it's a shame the Neville's didn't invest in Bury rather than effectively inventing a side. I know the project would have been very different but creating a new team whilst seeing another in a similar location they have family connections to go pop is sad.

They looked at Bury before Salford but the owner at the time asked for ludicrous amounts of money and terms so discussions never got anywhere. As it was the Lim geezer handing over the bulk of the money he didnt take kindly to it. They also looked at Oldham and got a similar response.

Bolton are fielding kids tomorrow

They’ve only got 5 contracted players aren’t allowed to sign anyone till they start paying whats owed to the players

Wouldn’t be surprised if the EFL boot them out shortly

What a world we live in

Cyrus Christie posted this on Twitter
"To the Fulham fan that decided to hit my sister at the game today and his wife who justified his action with racist remarks I hope you're proud of yourself and feel like a big man.
"You'll get what's coming to you. Regardless how you felt about the result your actions are shameful."
