The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

I don't really get the hate for their "unattractive" football. It's not as if they fluke their way to success. They have a plan, they execute it, they stay up. Sounds alright to me.

If you are having a narrow term of reference then I think that's fine, however there's a couple of things to add to that. Firstly, Albion fans have always had this overblown view of their culture and style - the Albion way. Secondly, being in the PL isn't a novelty for them, it's awful football, yes it's pragmatic and a means to an end, but they are bored of watching it.

Guess I was raised on too much "boring" American football. Pretty is a state of mind, I suppose.

They are objectively awful to watch, they routinely go games on end without scoring. Multiple games where they don't have a shot on target either. Plus clogging horrible bastards like Dawson, Yacob and McClean.

Very different games, the comparison would be with Basketball as the tactics are similar. It's the basketball equivalent of hurling the ball from your own half for a 10ft tall player to try and dunk every time and then win the rebounds/ fouls to get free throws. Abject strategy but effective against some teams.

Oh, no doubt. What I mean is that even by the standards of American football I'd take a defensive 3-0 grind over a 70-63 shoot out.

One of my favorite games ever is this, Tennessee @ Alabama, a game in which there was almost no good offensive play to speak of and in which Alabama (who I have supported my whole life) scored zero TDs. I don't know if this clip will give you goosebumps like it does me, but man, I never tire of watching it.

Point being, I guess I'm more okay with being 2016 West Brom than 2011 Blackpool.

You mean you'd rather watch soccer than American football?

wba do have a good defensive tactic thanks to Pulis..he is known for that..I dont enjoy watching that type of football at all tbh..even if they do it perfectly..easier to defend than to create and attack..

He's not wrong though. You've got to take a long had look at yourself when Darron Gibson calls you out.

Unacceptable behavior from a professional.

#EFL: New ABBA penalty format to be trialled across competitions in 2017/18.

Urgh, I really can’t describe how much I hate that cunt. Utterly everything wrong with English football. Fucking wanker of the highest degree.
