The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

Not sure Staveley and co were particularly good news, but Ashley needs to go. He's strangling that club.

I heard this morning that Ashley was stalling as he wanted to hear the value of Sky's new deal next month and then up the asking price accordingly

Ashley's flawed business model is to finish lower mid table, historically when it looks like they might go down he's given the manager some money to spend in Jan and when it doesn't he hasn't. My guess is he'll give Rafa enough to keep him until the Summer.

Depends on how much he's given. He seems genuinely to care about the Newcastle fans, if he thinks he's got enough to keep them up then I think he'll try to and bugger off at the end of the season if Ashley is still around.

I know YW had mentioned the book 'No Hunger in Paradise' by Michael Calvin before, it is now available as a BT film for free on the website and it is well worth a watch if you want an insight into youth football and player development to first team.

Cheers mate - I knew it was on BT but didn't know it was free on their website.

It's a superb book so I'm very interested in seeing the programme.

I haven't read the book yet. I think Calvin is a terrific author and the best sports author by a stretch (or Ruben Neves goal depending on your metric).

A Boro fan has been arrested after taking the QPR keepers water bottle and then peeing in it before throwing back behind the goal.

Classy stuff.

That must have been outsourced to a marketing agency who don't know anything about football

Has this replaced the normal EURO qualifying rounds?

As in the League of Nations games will replace the qualifiers?
