Harsh punishment indeed:

Hahahaha

The rules read: "73.2 The League or any subsidiary or associated company of The League or duly authorised agent or broadcaster (and its respective employees and agents) shall be allowed access to the grounds of all Clubs (and to the television gantries, camera positions and facilities) for the purpose of recording or broadcasting matches arranged under the jurisdiction of The League."

Why? They are fulfilling the fixture. At the time Sky want.

They are under contract to allow Sky in. Refusing to play on TV isn't far off refusing to play though. I like the stance but it will come with a severe punishment, especially as (as far as I know) they are the first to do it.

The stance is excellent. Sky's changing our fixture timetable has had a negative impact on my attendance at Wolves' games this season.

The more money they hand over, the more Power they have over the game. Hopefully what Leeds are doing is the first step to bringing things back to a sane level but I reckon the FL will be terrified of Sky and will hand over a punishment to try and scare other clubs away from taking the same steps.

More power? Perhaps KJ would welcome even more Sky coverage?

Couldn't clubs just become very awkward with TV companies by getting the builders in and removing gantries and such where they film events. That and not offering them corporate facilities for food and interviews.

I can't see how that stance helps anyone.

If clubs want attendances to pick up then they should have a look at their own ticket prices rather than pointing the finger at Sky. Also it rarely affects clubs who are doing well when they're televised, Derby's attendances remain solid when they're on TV, we had good crowds vs Derby, Leeds and Ipswich at the back end of last season.

This. If the clubs want more people AND the Sky money then they should drop the ticket prices by 50% minimum.

BREAKING NEWS.
Leeds v Derby will be live on Sky sports 1 at 7:30pm tonight. Cellino says it will be the last time Sky will be let in to Elland Road.

Talking out of his arse for a change.

Sad news that Pavel Srnicek didn't recover from his heart attack and has died.

Seemed like a really good guy, terrible shame.

Yeah awful, no age.

Was it a pre-season game he played for us?

Shaka Hislop played for us, not sure Pav did. We wanted to sign him in 2003 but it didn't happen.

I should have remembered that, I was at the game. Ronnie Ekelund played too.

Terribly sad news. Apparently his family agreed with his life support machine being switched off.

Great stuff, Ive been waiting for some club to stand up to the TV channels for many a year. Its a first step towards giving the game back to the fans in the ground, Saturday kick offs at 3 o clock. The Leeds owner does have something positive to offer the game.

Agreed I was delighted to hear about this today, it's about time someone made a stand against Sky, definitely sends a strong message about who really owns the clubs and hopefully this will snowball into something bigger.
