It's hard to draw any conclusions from that Benzema story, all it confirms is that he was aware and that he mentioned it to Valbuena at training, who knows at this stage whether he was trying to blackmail him or just giving him a warning that someone had such a tape and had contacted him about it.

Something seems very odd about the whole thing though, usually these things just seem to get thrown online and that's that, Valbuena is hardly the sort of global megastar you'd think would suddenly give someone the idea they could possibly blackmail to keep their image clean.

It's hardly like it'd ruin his career if a sex tape of his was published though is it? Plenty of footballers, and others in the limelight, have been caught in similar situations with no negative effect to their career. Some have even built a career on the back of such things!

Just seems an odd target for extortion, like if someone over was trying to blackmail James Milner.
