I guess there were enough moments within the following scuffle that they could easily say Costa was booked for any number of things and still pin some extra punishment on top at a later date for one of the other events.

The bloke is a complete dick.

Sir Alex: "We rejected the opportunity to sign Aguero shortly before he moved to City - we were unwilling to match Atlético Madrid's £35m price-tag."

Strange events indeed. Arsenal's Gabriel has his red card rescinded, but still faces an FA charge for refusing to leave the pitch. And Costa has received a three match ban. Mourinho may not be too impressed.

Not sure if I'm happy with that decision. Whilst not condoning Costa's actions, this appears to give playets carte blanche to retaliate onfield to provocation. Especially bad given Gabriel wasn't involved in the initial incident, and shouldn't have stuck his beak in.
Will be interesting to see if the FA will maintain this benchmark of standards throughout the season, including in less high profile circumstances?

Decision re Costa correct, but can't see why Gabriel's card was rescinded as he did retaliate & you can't do that whatever the Ref has or hasn't done.

As much as I can't stand Costa, I'm surprised Gabriel had his card rescinded. Provoked or not, he did have a missed slap attempt at Costa which would've been a straight red had it connected, then the pointless little kick out, which again is a straight red. Strange decision to let him off the hook.

Pep quits a press conference when asked about the england job.

Agreed DW. He has great potential, but he needs to be playing football, even if at a lower level for a season.

Jack Grealish opts to represent England.

Token appearance in one of the meaningless qualifiers next month to cement his decision then.

Liverpool keeper on loan at Swindon has had his loan cancelled. He was late for training and fined £50 so he paid the fine in pennies! :icon_lol:

Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has resumed his loan spell with Swindon after apologising for paying a fine with one penny pieces.
He was sent back to Anfield after using 5,000 coins to pay a £50 fine for turning up late to training.

Asked about the nature of the issue, Cooper confirmed: "It did happen and I thought it was brilliant banter, but in the context it was the wrong way to go about it.

Brilliant banter but as it made me look a twat I sent him packing.
