How the hell does Forster-Caskey get into this England U21 side?

I thought he was highly rated?

Birmingham City announce exclusivity status for a preferred bid from Trillion Trophy Asia Ltd (nope, me neither). Trillion will grant Blues a £12.5m loan as part of the deal, and the loan will be secured on St Andrews.

That doesn't sound too encouraging, to be honest. Why a loan? Surely a new owner should be putting money in properly?

Indeed. And the loan will have to be repaid, but by whom? Birmingham City are hardly in a position to take on a large loan like this.
Also will the new owners be providing money for players, or is that included in the loan?

The exclusivity period is for two years to get the deal done. I would imagine the loan is for their running costs and will either be repaid or taken from the price of buying the club.

Excellent point Sniffer. It rather commits Blues to getting the deal done then.

Queens Park Rangers were relegated because half the players were only there for the money and Harry Redknapp is a "very bad manager", says Rs outcast Adel Taarabt in an extraordinary attack.

Taarabt said: “When I came for pre-season I told Harry Redknapp to his face, ‘This team is going down’. He said the same thing as me... that he agreed with me."

And on his fiery relationship with his former boss, he claims that Redknapp does not have the same passion for the game that is portrayed sometimes.

“Harry is not a bad person but he is a very bad coach and, for me, a very bad manager.”

West Brom have announced the departures of technical director Terry Burton and head of recruitment Mervyn Day less than a year into their jobs.

The pair have been given notice to end their contracts and placed on 'garden leave' with immediate effect as part of an on-going review into the club's performance.

Pulis rules the roost wherever he goes. He wouldn't work with a DoF.

I have no idea why you would employ either of those two anyway. They're pretty poor at what they do.

What exactly is "garden leave"?

You are given your notice money (say three months pay) but you can't work for anyone else in that three month period. So you are paid to sit in your garden and watch the world go by.

Not a bad deal, all told. Unless you're neither allowed to negotiate for a new job when the period has ended (ie, find the job during the period so that you're ready to go immediately when it ends).

You can negotiate and get yourself the new job but you can't start it until the gardening leave period ends. Nothing to stop you sitting in the garden doing prep to be ready to go on day one though.

Definitely a sweet deal, then.

Not as sweet as having your contract terminated in American sports, but then nothing's as good as that!

Your employment laws seem to be fucking vicious so I am not surprised being on gardening leave sounds ace. It is, as long as you have something else lined up, and it gives you some time to devote to getting yourself sorted. I have had situations with a three month notice where they wanted to negotiate moving me on, gave me double the required payment and then some, but expected me to work every single second of that notice (bar the fact they can't deny you time off to attend interviews and so on)

Yep, a lot of states are known as "right to work", which basically means you can be fired at any time for any reason, effective immediately. That makes Equal Opportunity things difficult to regulate since the employer can say "it wasn't because this thing, it was because of this thing", and it becomes a big he-said she-said and it goes without saying who's going to have the better lawyer.

Hell, even severance packages are becoming a rarity these days.

That right to work thing really annoys me. Basically if your boss takes offence to you, you can get fired for nothing, which is just wrong. There should be a good reason if you lose your job.
