Do we know why Morocco pulled out?

Threat of Ebola coming into the country. They asked for the Tournament to be delayed until 2016, that was rejected and they were given until Saturday to confirm they were hosting it in January.

You'd think they wouldn't have been barred from the competition entirely if Ebola is what they were worried about.

They aren't in the qualifiers though, so if they're not hosting it then they can't really be in it.

They were hosting so didn't have to qualify. So no hosting, no space and no time to join a group to qualify from

Well, that does make some sense. Still seems harsh, IMO.

Since none of the affected countries were likely to qualify perhaps they shouldn't have been so paranoid about it?

If we were in a position where signing Ched Evans would improve the team, would you sign him?

No.

If a male nurse had been convicted of such an offence then he wouldn't be allowed back in to nursing.

He's not a nurse though is he?

No but certain professions block people convicted of certain offences from going back to their previous employment positions. Football should make such a stance by introducing a similar professional ethics code of conduct.

Talking of extremely unpleasant footballers, does anyone know what Lee Bowyer is up to these days? His Wikipedia page doesn't seem to have been updated since 2012.

I imagine a nurse wouldn't be allowed back into their profession because of the risk of leaving someone in charge of vulnerable people who has a track record of taking advantage of vulnerable people rather than any moral or ethical decision.

What about Chartered Accountants or Lawyers?

For what it's worth regarding a lawyer, however this is football where the only moral thing is that footballers are supposedly role models to the young community.

I don't know what their stance would be to be honest, though i imagine for a lawyer there would probably be issues if you had a criminal record for any sort of offence.

There seems to be a much bigger frenzy around Ched Evans potentially returning to football than anything i remember happening around the returns of either Lee Hughes or Luke McCormick.

FWIW I would include their crimes, and that of ex-wolf James Kelly in not returning to the professional game.

No to the Ched Evans question. Footballers should be role models.

The NFL has it right in banning players with violence/abuse offences.
