Premier League given extra Europa League spot, thanks to their Fair Play Ranking

Which looks set to go to West Ham!

Sturridge won't even re-start training until September.

A couple of things:

1) You have to worry about his long-term future. Continual "minor knocks" turn into absences of months, different areas of his body keep playing up and major hip surgery for a 25 year old is not normal.

2) I think he is going to be left behind as far as England goes. We have so many other options up front, he has yet to convince in an England shirt (oddly Welbeck looks far more accomplished whereas so many moves break down when the ball reaches Sturridge, plus he misses a lot of clear chances) and by the time if/when he puts a run of games together others will have had the chance to prove themselves.

Also Liverpool really really really need to sign at least two quality strikers this summer, they won't go in again with Sturridge as the clear number one, you just can't be taking that risk.

Richard Keys' blog is an absolute goldmine, it makes me laugh at its sheer ridiculousness and seethe at its stupidity at the same time.

Here's what he said on April 20:

Pellegrini looks like the walking dead. I keep hearing that City are convinced they can persuade Guardiola to take over at The Etihad. But when? Talk to people in Munich, as I have, and they'll tell you he's happy and determined to fulfil his contractual obligations. That means staying one more season at least. His close friends will tell you that he harbours a desire to manage a club with deep traditions and history - in England. Would City make his wish list on that basis? United, Arsenal or Liverpool might. Yes, Liverpool.

If City fire Pellegrini what do they do? They'll be treading water if they wait 12 months for Guardiola - and even then there are no guarantees. So who gets it? Vieira? Maybe. Benitez? Don't rule him out. City need someone like him to sort that dressing room out. I don't believe it will be Klopp. He's got to chose his next job very very carefully.

If he goes to City there's every chance the dressing room could swallow him. I've said it before - it was a mistake to back the players and not Mancini. As my old Mum would say - 'you reap what you sow in life'.

Looks like Dickie was speaking to the wrong people in Munich and the wrong close friends.

Bonus points for confusing 'dead man walking' with 'the walking dead' and the amazing last sentence.

One Day In May on BT Sport about the Bradford fire. Finding it tough to watch.

I watched the original footage once on youtube. Still have nightmares about that and always feel slightly uneasy whenever I'm in a mainly wooden stand.

There's still a load of wood in the away stand at Selhurst Park. When Paddy and I went there back in 2007 something was seriously fucked up with the allocation of seats and there were people stood in the gangways and down the stairs all the way across. Any fire in there and we'd have had a very real problem.

So right. I think it was about twenty minutes in when we turned to each other and said "this is a potential deathtrap"

Burnley away when we took 5K+ in 2008 was very dodgy. I remember seeing pissed up Wolves fans smoking in the toilets at halftime and being really worried about all the wood in that stand.
