The Film Thread

Lincoln. One for DVD. Great performance from Day-Lewis but unless you're drenched in Lincoln history I'd avoid. Lots of old men talking detail in smoke filled rooms.

cloud atlas is released 22nd feb. good book. mate of mine i saw at weekend (leeds fan) saw it in america and reckons it's v good. david mitchell writes really good books - in the style of murakami

I can only add to what others have said about Django Unchained, superb film, up there with Tarantino's best efforts. Christopher Waltz is unbelievably brilliant. Really want to see both Argo and Zero Dark Thirty.

Watched Prometheus last night... not bad. Kinda bland. Curious to see the sequel though.

What else would it be about? Everything that made him who he is would've been details discussed in smoke filled rooms. He was a politician during a civil war, not a superhero! :D

Christopher Waltz and Quentin Tarantino, the best double act since Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese.

I thought he was a vampire killer ?

Yes, obviously, totally different things. One is just a badass, the other has super powers. And where would vampires hide? Dark, smoke filled rooms... it all fits.

Taken 2 - I preferred the first, but a good flick nonetheless.

Django Unchained - absolutely superb. Christopher Waltz's performance was fantastic too - is he in the running for an Oscar?

I'm still not sure if I prefer it to Kill Bill or not yet, but the fact I rank it to that sort of level is quite an accolade. It still can't quite beat Pulp Fiction IMO but it's still one of the best things Tarantino has done.

That's at least three people who have called him Christoper now.

It's Christoph Waltz.

I saw Ted the other day. Very disappointing. The story was fine but it was nowhere near as funny as it should have been. Giovanni Ribisi was good though. Mila Kunis was just wasted in her role. I'm guessing she only did it because of Seth McFarlane, who I'm a huge fan of btw.

Heard on the radio last night that a new Reacher film is in the pipeline (didnt catch which book it would be based on) with in the lead role

Tom

Hanks!

Awaits Langers verdict.

I watched Seven Pounds tonight, the Will Smith film. I thought it was fantastic. Odd to know what was going on at first but more and more compelling as it went on and you understood what was happening, and it was also quite moving at times. Will Smith is great in it and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone. 9/10.
