The Film Thread

Oh he was woeful.

Ive actually never seen the movie Mama Mia but a few years ago, I flew to Madrid to see some friends and we drove up to Bilbao to visit one of the girls boyfriends. It took 5hrs and the only tape they had in the car was Mama Mia. So we listened to it on repeat for 5hrs...... :killa:

:icon_lol:

The stage musical is infinitely better than the film which is borderline unwatchable

Yeah, once was more than enough. It should be impossible to go wrong with Meryl Streep, but they did...

Have not seen the sequel and fair to say it's not on my to-do list.

I usually cannot stand musicals. However, Buddy (the stage version) and Oliver (the film version) are the exception to my rule.

IP Man 4 The Finale

Thank fuck it's the finale

Watched Spenser Confidential last night a Netflix original. I quite like Mark Wahlberg, but that's the shittest things he's done since he split with The Funky Bunch

We will Rock You onstage is fantastic.

When I were very young we went to see Barnum at the Palladium with Michael Crawford in the lead. It was a brilliant experience.

One of the guys from Guitar Village in Farnham used to do the guitar work for the We Will Rock You Show, he said that Brian May used to pop in not infrequently and do some shows unannounced without the audience knowing.

The Gentlemen. Sort of in the same vein as Snatch. Didn't work for me. Also Michelle Dockery ( Lady Mary of Downton Abbey) saying cunt, fuck and others also didn't work for me.

I had its moments, but youre right it's very Snatch like. Hugh Grants funny in it though.

I thought it was Guy Ritchie's best work in a good many years.

I loved Snatch (that sounds odd ?) so am quite looking forward to it .

We actually watched Snatch last night as my wife hadn't seen it and she liked the Gentlemen.

I thought the Gentlemen was Snatch lite, it was formulaic Guy Ritchie with the wrong cast. The american guy with the Geordie accent was awful. Didn't think Matthew McConaughey was great either. Best character was Colin Farrell

The Gentlemen was entertaining enough whilst I was watching it, particularly Hugh Grant's accent, and it had a few funny one liners.

The problem was it was instantly forgettable and they were all extremely unlikeable characters. Plus they all acted like hardmen but were completely unconvincing.

I don't think Guy Ritchie has done anything of note that isn't in collaboration with Matthew Vaughn

Well I would suggest the Sherlock films he did with RDJ were rather good, can't say I've seen any of his other films though.

I thought they were pretty poor in comparison to the series which was aired at the same time.

His other films are Rocknrolla, Revolver, Man from UNCLE, Aladdin and King Arthur. I thought they were all terrible.

The American guy with the Geordie accent is from Newcastle.
