The Film Thread

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Tarantino at his self indulgent best.

I might need to watch this again. I thought it was him at his self-indulgent worst! Some good bits and Brad Pitt was great but i thought overall it was really dull.

I get it's a homage to his beloved Hollywood, but a better tribute to Hollywood would be to make a really good film.

Rise of Skywalker. I loved it. Bittersweet moment though. I have been on that journey since I was five years old on opening night in 1977, and I can’t believe it’s finally finished ( well bar a myriad of spinoffs).

S'funny, I think it is a really good movie...

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - I'm about half way through and it's a really lovely film, mostly because Mr Rogers seems like he was so nice.

Spider Man Far From Home. Way too confusing for Xmas Eve, especially since I thought it came before End Game.

I can't believe they're still advertising Cats. You'd think they'd want to hope it just quietly went away.

The worst musical of the last 30 years, bar none, and they made it into a film. You know what Cats is? It's two hours of fake cats introducing themselves for no reason. In song. That's it. There is no story.

How is that ever going to work outside of a live performance (even then it shouldn't, but people inexplicably buy into Andrew Lloyd Webber's awful crap).

There is a story. It's essentially bullies deciding which weak cat they are going to murder in the name of religion.

I'll never forgive myself for agreeing to join the wife and her folks in watching that pile of adults having their faces painted before the show pile of shit

Ordinarily, because I like wasting my own time, I'd go to see something with such a rancid reception, just to see how bad it could possibly be.

No, on this occasion the advert and the trailer are enough. So bad on every level.

Amazingly enough Rebel Wilson plays a bit of a fat clumsy character who fucks everything up but her heart's in the right place. Less range than Gary Lineker's greatest goals compilation.

I think you real raison d'être is film revue :)

It's got James Cordon in, it can't be any wanker. Or more wank. Whichever the correct term is.

The day anyone works out what you actually do with me is the day I die. Probably.

Gavin and Stacey is very good (for what it is) and he has literally won awards on Broadway.

Carpool Karaoke is pretty decent. I loved the McCartney one as a big Beatles fan (yes I know some of it is set up).

I'm not his biggest fan and he spreads himself a little too thinly but he is talented.

I think Daniel Day Lewis is an appalling ham but he's one of the most acclaimed actors of all time :icon_lol:

Sometimes you just have to accept that the majority probably have it right and he's not quite to your personal taste, which is fine.

Watched The Two Popes, which is an incredibly moving piece of cinema with potential gong performances from both Price and Hopkins. I'm not overly religious, I don't think you have to be to enjoy it, but it does give you an insight into why the current pontiff is nicknamed Pope Awesome

Oh I accept that all day long, I’m a massive Status Quo fan after all. Nothing will ever change my opinion of Cordon though, can’t stand him. He can go in the bin with Russell Brand and Ed fucking Sheeran.

What’s bugging me more at the moment is how Mr I-Don’t-Watch-Tele knows so much about Gavin & Stacy and Carpool Karaoke.

Surely everyone is a massive Quo fan?......1970-1975 at least

Best era by a country mile. Dog of Two Head, Piledriver, Hello, Quo, Blue For You, On the Level. Six of the best albums ever released!

Oh God no................prefer the early stuff, Pictures of Matchstick Men, Green Tambourine etc.

After that they became rocks version of UB40 :stirthepot:

PLOT TWIST!!!!!

Is there where Dan rips his mask off and moans how he'd have gotten away with it if it hadn't of been for that pesky Boozad?
