The Film Thread

With subtitles, after a short while you don't even realise you're reading them. You sort of look through them.

agree that the dubbing in Dark is pretty bad and also seemed emotionally inconsistent which made it seem even worse.

however, you do have the option to change the language to the original German and put subtitles on. so don't miss out! definitely better that way.

Didn’t realise that, nice one!

What do you mean ' you sort of look through them ' ?

If I've not got me glasses on then I'm buggered anyway, by the time I've squinted and tried to focus, it's gone off. Then I have to keep asking hubby, and then he gets cross, and then we have to start looking for me glasses.

You subconsciously read them whilst watching the film. You don't specifically concentrate on them.

When I watch good films with subtitles I find myself remembering them as if the subtitles were actually audible. It's really odd.

Two credit scenes in Black Panther. The film is supposed to be very good.

Can’t wait for The Terror!

Cov wasn’t all that bad, like I say the characters had no depth at all and were pretty shit it other than that it was decent enough.

Solomon Kane. Fantasy saftness, demonic creatures, blood spurting, heads sliced off, but on the whole entertaining and I enjoyed. A film where in nearly every scene it appears to be either peeing down or snowing.

I went to school with the director, Michael Bassett. MJ Bassett as she is now. Pretty cool person.

Four Lions. A comedy based on a gang of wannabe terrorists in Sheffield, written and directed by Chris Morris.

How the hell have I missed this? It's one of the funniest films I've seen in years. Genuine laugh out loud moments on a regular basis. The humour is very close to the bone in places (it IS Chris Morris!) but it never went too far for me - it's hilarious. Loads of quotable lines, brilliant performances across the board - I absolutely loved this.

Has anyone else seen this?

I often completely miss brilliant films for several years after release! It's a talent of mine.

It's true. Every movie you've posted about on here recently was something we watched in 2016 or 2017

let me bring the conversation down a notch or two

black panther was awesome

anyone seen Knock Knock? I'm going through a list of "wtf" movies that were recommended to me a bit ago, which I usually like, but this one...

just wtf. but not in the way I wanted. more like in a what was the friggin point of watching that way.

I quite enjoyed It Follows.

I've seen Knock Knock. Terrible film, terrible acting but couldn't stop watching it. Felt I needed to watch it all the way through

that's pretty much where I was at. I kept waiting for that-something to happen, but it never did.
