The Film Thread

I really liked that film. Including the ending.

Went to the cinema to watch that last year I think and wasn’t overly impressed with it although McAvoy was really good.

The Boy, watched it last night as the missus has wanted to watch it for ages. Really dull and bland and I dozed off a couple of times.

Thor : Ragnarok is bloody marvellous. Very funny and reminiscent of Flash Gordon.

It is very good and very funny. I was surprised until I realised the director was the guy who made Hunt for the Wilder People and What we do in the Shadows. Both excellent if you haven’t seen them.

Annabelle:Creation

Load of saftness with a couple of scary moments.

Whiplash. A story about an ambitious music student who is a very talented drummer and his overbearing tutor.

What a tremendous film - the two leads in particular are superb. Indeed, J K Simmons won an Oscar for his portrayal of the sadistic music teacher.

Every scene is racked with tension, and on top of that the music they play is awesome.

Even though this is very highly rated, I'll admit I knew nothing about it whatsoever before I saw it but I'm really glad I did. A tremendous film.

Yeah Whiplash was great. Miles Teller played the majority of the drums in it too.

Jungle starring Daniel Radcliffe. Wasn't really expecting much from this one but was really pleasantly surprised. A story of survival , and he did, not only in the jungle but coming out of this film with 2 thumbs up from me. He has certainly grown as an actor and left his wizard robes behind him.

Well worth a watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon .

Anyone seen Hardcore Henry?

Only just seen a trailer and it looks class.

It's good fun, but the first person gimmick occasionally gets a bit annoying during action scenes...

I've been watching the Jurassic Park films with Mini Langers.

The first is still fucking brilliant and has actually aged really well.

The second is entertaining enough but gets incredibly stupid by the end. Still - he liked it.

The third we watched last night. Effects aside, I had forgotten how fucking awful it is - atrocious 'acting', dodgy plot, every cliche in the book is used at some point. Hilariously bad.

Got Jurassic World to watch next - which although it's utter nonsense, I quite enjoyed it at the cinema.

Enjoyed the first two Jurassic's,third one was just dreadful.

Back in 1995 when Jumanji came out, I bloody loved it, thought it was brilliant. Now all those years later I watched it again the other day and was disappointed. Wish I hadn't watched it again now.

The Hunt for the Wilderpeople - excellent, funny Kiwi flick. Highty recommended.

Wonder Woman - I keep trying, but I don't really get superhero movies. Some OK stuff in it but I thought it really dragged. It was like watching Xena Warrior Princess without the lesbian subtext... so not as good.

Shutter Island. It's a few years old now but I'd never bothered to watch it until now.Really enjoyed this one and worth a watch. Certainly not the ending I was expecting.

Definitely not the ending you would expect but it was a good twist

The Branagh version of Murder on the Orient Express is pretty decent. Very enjoyable couple of hours at the cinema.

Pilgrimage. Mr P enjoyed it, I didn't. That's all I'll say about that.
