The FIFA Debacle

"If I go down, then the rest of you are all going down with me" is a powerfully persuasive argument once these smaller national FA delegates have chowed down on the corrupt money. They cannot afford for change to happen as their gravy train would be derailed.

The smaller nations FA's are small enough to put better people in their systems. If UEFA walk away from FIFA then it's curtains, I imagine a fair amount of advertising is based on the success of European countries as that is where the money is.

Absolutely. UEFA walking away would be huge. The problem is the next world cup is technically in a UEFA country so not sure where that would leave it.

Blatter - "I cannot monitor everyone all of the time"

Just $#@! off. Your watch and your snout is deeper in the trough than anyone else.

Nor can he watch anyone for a period of something like 25 years, apparently.

Just seen this in the indie.... A word in their shell likes re them sponsoring Blatter FIFA wouldn't go amiss from a few million footie fans.

first bit of free time i get the mails will be flying.

The problem is firstly they are contractually obliged, so unless they can find a fraud clause in their contract they will have to pay compo and even if they do it could be years before it is legally proven. Secondly, the World Cup is the most powerful sporting event in the World and commercial gold dust to be involved with. Linked to this, thirdly all those sponsors have key rivals who would take their place in a heartbeat, Coke/Pepsi, Visa/MasterCard, Adidas/Nike etc. All of which means unfortunately it isn't going to happen.

Don't think Nike would be that arsed about replacing adidas to be honest, they already dominate the retail side of football for the most part.

I'm still going to give it a go!

A world cup without the major European countries would just be an enlarged version of the Copa America. Blatter will probably win tomorrow, and the only organisation that can halt him is UEFA. A European boycott of the 2018 World Cup would have major repercussions, both on and off the field. Sponsors would not pay so much, TV Companies would not be falling over each other to show games, and the public interest would not be on the same scale. UEFA have the key to unlock the door, but are they prepared to turn that key?

I don't think they will need to. Sepp will win tomorrow but the situation will get worse over the coming weeks and will lead to him having no choice but to fuck off.

UEFA on its own wouldn't make much difference to most UEFA nations or domestic leagues, champions league would remain and we'd still have a European championship which IMO is a better quality tournament.
South American countries know international football would be dead without any European nations.
South American players would still want to remain playing in Europe due to wages.
The only thing we'd lose is the World Cup.

Saw this earlier, which I enjoyed:

The US has confirmed it will vote for Ali.

Just one needed for the full set...

Pretty sure if those charged are going down, they will soon start crying and telling tales on Seppy

"Why will you be voting for Sepp Blatter?"

Mohammad Kazi Salahuddin, Bangladesh Football Federation President:"I don't know the other guy."

Blatter's speech was a thing of beauty. Apparently if different countries had come out of the envelopes there would not be this mess. So it is US and UK sour grapes. Just fuck off you odious scrote.

Offering money to associations is obviously a vote winner.

Its a good job the British electorate aren't so daft to vote for a party offering unfunded tax cuts, health spending and ring fencing benefits for those most likely to vote for them.

I don't understand how Blatter can say - and I quote - "It must fall to me to uphold responsibility for the well-being of the organisation."

But then say - and I quote - "I cannot monitor everyone all of the time".

So which is it? Either you're responsible for the mess, or you aren't capable of leading an organisation that is rotten to the core. Either way, there is no way this dangerous man can possibly be competent enough to do the role he's running for.
