The FIFA Debacle

It's UEFA, Pav!

I'm in 100% agreement with a total boycott of FIFA - this will never happen, but I'd love the more powerful nations such as Spain, Germany, France, England, Italy, Brazil, USA etc to withdraw. Without those, there is no FIFA. Fuck 'em - start a separate, independent, transparent, democratic, just governing body that looks after the good of the game, not the bank balance of individual members.

I don't agree with the World Cup being held in Russia or Qatar so now is the time to do it - withdraw, start the long, drawn out task of starting a new governing body so football can start afresh.

More chance of Wolves winning the Champions League before the next world cup, but I'd bloody love it if that happened.

totally agree with this

though i do wonder how many years it would take for any new organisation to end up with similar situations. what we know as corruption is considered simply as 'doing business' in some parts of the world.

They've unveiled the cover to FIFA 16.

I gave the FBI the crucial documents that triggered yesterday's arrests. There will be more to come. Blatter is a target.

Blatter set to walk the vote, especially when lines like this are used - Blaming Blatter is 'blasphemy' says head of Guinea-Bissau association

UEFA planning on calling an Emergency Meeting if Blatter wins. They need 20% of those allowed to vote to back them.

WTF is this? :icon_lol:

I had no idea this existed! Tim Roth as Sepp Blatter! :icon_lol:

I love the swarthy Englishmen that pops up halfway through. What anti-English bias?

The only way I can see him going is if some major sponsors pull the plug (they won't), if UEFA stage a boycott (they won't) or if the leading countries threaten to boycott FIFA and go it alone (they won't). It is probably going to take someone having some major dirt on Blatter to get him to resign. I won't hold my breath, the man is unstoppable.

He came across as a bit of self-publicising nob on the radio yesterday. I'm not surprised to see he has a book to push too.

FA confirms that David Gill will not take his seat as UEFA representative on FIFA Exco if Blatter wins tomorrow

Also the Australian FA have said they will not vote for Blatter. That will piss of the Asian Fed as they promised Blatter all its members will vote for him.

UEFA will need to withdraw from the 2018 World Cup if they want Blatter to go. The man has built up a power base and seems almost untouchable.

Just seen this in the indie.... A word in their shell likes re them sponsoring Blatter FIFA wouldn't go amiss from a few million footie fans.

Blatter - "I cannot monitor everyone all of the time"

Just fuck off. Your watch and your snout is deeper in the trough than anyone else.

You have to grudgingly admit he has done an incredible job in getting the power base he has and making himself virtually untouchable, he has managed to pull together federations from all around the world into a single bloc to keep him in power whilst keeping them and their various ego's and rivalries onside at the same time for the past 20 years and money will only keep it together for so long

Imagine what good shape FIFA and the game could have been in, if they had tried to do it in a legal ethical manner.
(Then again is it the piles of money flying about the place which is the glue to keep the whole thing from falling apart!)

"If I go down, then the rest of you are all going down with me" is a powerfully persuasive argument once these smaller national FA delegates have chowed down on the corrupt money. They cannot afford for change to happen as their gravy train would be derailed.
