The FIFA Debacle

We (England) should not be sending out noises that we are ready to bid or can take over the staging of the 2018/2022. We should be stating that all we are interested in is seeing the organisation reformed.

Greg Dyke is beginning to piss me off. In full on motor mouth mode since this news broke before the election. All he is doing is pushing the English FA further away from UEFA and FIFA. Say you are happy Blatter has gone and shut the fuck up.

Greggy says it's Boris that needs to STFU.

So apparently, Blatter has resigned conditionally. He'll go when a replacement is elected, which will take 4-6 months.

Meanwhile, he will continue to 'work' at FIFA. Wonder what he will be doing?

Good chance Blatter will try and place a yes man in the hot seat while still running the gig from the sidelines.

John O'Shea says they would have preferred a replay rather than financial compensation.
FAI said, fuck that!, three and half million quid?, fuck the world cup!

But they weren't ever going to get a replay? Do they not understand this?

It's like that mug that someone put up on the cracking story thread the other day with his ridiculous odds bet on Federer.

The betting company fobbed him off saying he wasn't going to get the winnings he was expecting, he's gone crying about it so they offered a couple of £50 free bets as a goodwill gesture but he's got all proud about it and turned them. There's no way he's getting his big payout on the Federer bet so he may as well have took the £100 in free bets and got on with his life.

Still looks terrible from a PR perspective for Ireland, though. "Who needs principles when you have £5million?"

They could easily have peddled it in a reasonably positive light if they'd wished.

Let's be honest, everyone's been on the take during the Blatter era even the FA i would imagine.

Agree with that - you could probably pull a 'dodgy' story from every National FA. It was the culture of the system. Listening to Question Time today one of the panellists said the only way to deal with it was to tear up the existing setup & start again as reform wasn't possible as graft was ingrained into the fabric.

True, doesn't look like they did, though. Do we know what that money ended up going to?

Good post and the comparison is a fair one. if Delaney had stood by his principles, he would have come out of this looking like he actually cared.

The 5 mill went straight into servicing the debt accrued by building the Aviva. So into the banks essentially.

I smell a connection

Not paid a lot of attention to this, but Warner, $10 million, good God.
