The FIFA Debacle

The corruption was so rife that surely it is time for FIFA to be disbanded and a new governing body to be formed.

So...Morocco may have actually won the World Cup for 2010 but the result was changed to ensure South Africa got it.

United Passions was released in America this week. Shown on one screen in LA and the only person watching it was the Independant's film critic - http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...ly-awful-film-about-its-history-10302294.html

United Passions opened last year in Serbia, Hungary and Azerbaijan, and after its US release on 5 June it is now showing on precisely one cinema screen in Los Angeles. The box-office clerk claimed a handful of punters had attended a preview screening, but the only person there besides me was another reporter, who left before the film began. A shame, since I would like to have had company with whom to agree on its sheer awfulness.

Ouch!

A vanity film about the history of Fifa has flopped in the US, taking just $607 (£397) in its opening weekend.
United Passions was funded by about £17m of Fifa cash,

The movie actually has real actors. I'm absolutely slackjawed at the whole thing.

Tim Roth as Sepp Blatter. :icon_lol:

The introductory line for Blatter is "I've heard he's good at getting money".

You can not make this shit up.

Ah now that's brilliant! Diego Maradonna seriously thinks the way to reform FIFA is to install a cocaine addict and known tax dodger, as vice president?

You just have to laugh!

This comment from Tognoni (Blatters right-hand man in the mid-90s) is absolutely ridiculous -

"Even if there is evidence that Fifa people were bribed, where is the problem? With Fifa, or the people who had no choice but to get the World Cup with bribing?"

Is he *actually* attempting to shift the blame?

Jack Warner asked the SFA to pay $75,000 into a personnel account when Scotland played Trinidad & Tobago a couple of years ago.

He was told to do one by the SFA.
