The F1 Thread

Thing is Max was so far on the inside he had a stupidly tight line into turn two so would have either had to really slow down (which he doesn’t do) or would have just understeered into Lewis anyway.
Exactly. This is what I was trying to say. He was only “alongside” as he was so deep into 1 with no intention of making 2. His only desire was to force Lewis off the road at best or “fuck it” and cause a collision at worst.

Much like at Monza last year, there wasn’t an overtaking opportunity. It only looked like there was one by going so deep into the first turn that he had no way of making the second.

Schumacher leaving Haas. Hulkenburg will take his spot.

Schumacher could be the reserve driver for Merc next year. They have spoken to him and Danny Ric about the role.

"As a team we made some mistakes in Brazil. We had not envisaged the situation that unfolded on the last lap and we had not agreed a strategy for such a scenario before the race. Regretfully, Max was only informed at the final corner of the request to give up position without all the necessary information being relayed. This put Max, who has always been an open and fair team player, in a compromising situation with little time to react which was not our intention. Following the race Max spoke openly and honestly, allowing for both drivers to resolve any outstanding issues or concerns. The Team accept Max's reasoning, the conversation was a personal matter which will remain private between the team and no further comment will be made."

Brilliant statement from Red Bull. About as honest as Max.

They were speaking about the swap a couple of laps before the end...even told Perez that is what is happening. As for the bit in bold :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So remembering there is a delay before we hear the radio let’s say that conversation actually took place probably with six or seven laps to go and then they talk to Max on the last corner? Bullshit.

Transcript shows they told Max at the start of the final to let Checo by at corner 12

Asked 4 more times followed by "WTF Max" on the final corner

They had been telling Checo for about 5 laps what the plan was.

So basically Red Bull (and effectively whinger spice) can be proved to be totally lying to look after that man child Verstappen.

Yep but we live in an age of FAKE NEWS. Doesn't matter what is the truth or not just say Fake News and it goes away.

I think Max has felt the full force of the Mexicans this week. As we know, when they defend a sports person from their country they go full on and quite often go very OTT and cross the line. I don't think Maxxy will be very popular when he races there next year

Mercs look quick in FP1. Hard to judge as Max wasn’t in the car (Lawson deputising I think).

Interesting chat in the comms about extending the number of sprints next season. Consensus seems to be yes please but only at the tracks where overtaking is easier and never Monaco or Mexico.

Doohan was in the Alpine, Lawson in the Red Bull (swift editing there Padster...)

Loving the name of the kid in the McLaren though - Patricio O'Ward (from Mexico)

My knowledge of Indy 500 = zero

Still, he has a great name and I now like him and wish him all the success in the world

Well I’ve watched the last 25 mins and absolutely nothing has happened. Must have missed the good bits

But enjoyable that Red Bull still don't have a 1-2 in the Drivers Championship.
