The F1 Thread

I'd imagine they'll write those races off and compensate the organisers for the loss.

The 4 cancelled are probably done but it looks like the first couple of Euro races will be postponed with a view to move them into what is normally the mid-season break window

Spain, Holland and Monaco races postponed

Monaco organisers say their race is simply cancelled though as they cannot put it on at any other time

2021 new regulations are being pushed back to 2022 as well.

It's going to be carnage in the driver market with so many of them with deals expiring this year.

I think it's highly likely that they'll just bin this season, especially with them putting the new regulations back a year as well.

F1 teams are going to be too busy building ventilators to mess about with any racing...

I guess it all comes down to what they class as a decent number of races to get a Championship out of. Now down to a max of 16 races. Couple more go and can't be rearranged thats the Championship gone

It used to be 12, back in the day, didn't it?

Dont think the team would accept such a low number these days. Might see some races go ahead but just as show races.

If they get race 1 in early June though they are good to go

Just came across this on YouTube. Didn't realize those iconic bends were once public roads.

Yes, the old Spa circuit was entirely public roads, and it was only the new section created in 1979 between "new" Les Combes and "new" Stavelot that wasn't public road; and the entire modern circuit ceased to be public road only circa 2000 when a new bypass was put in just to the north.

About 2/3 of the old circuit is still public roads, and I can recommend the Friterie at the exit of Masta if anyone is ever in the area...

So French GP gone for this year but FIA confident season will start in Austria at the beginning of July.

Taken advantage of the 30 days free on F1TV and I am keeping the subscription up for sure. Working my way through re-watching the 2019 season in order at the moment and have got up to Spa, with Monza next in a mo. I forgot how good some of the races were in a dominant Mercedes season. Verstappen was truly amazing in Austria and Leclerc winning at Spa was tremendous and such a bittersweet story when the rest of the weekend is remembered. Bahrain was awesome as well. The best though is the Hamilton chase at the Hungaroring. That was truly bonkers stuff to watch again. There are something like 1200 hours to watch in the archive across various seasons and I am watching at least a couple of races a day.

Some fall from grace. There doesn't appear to be a seat for him at any of the top teams either.

Swap with Sainz seems about the only possibility. Seb really doesn’t like it if he isn’t confirmed number one driver in a team.

It leaves the door open for Hamilton to go to Ferrari now though.
