The F1 Thread

and now the truck carrying the Williams back to the pits has hit a bridge with the crane part and now its pissing oil all over the Williams car. Comedy hour in Baku

Leclerc who has been the quickest by a mile this weekend has just smashed his way out of Quali. So he will be starting 10th

By the way - read the Secret Aerodynamicist columns on the BBC website. Fascinating stuff.

Worlds most pointless penatly for Gasly. Broke the fuel regulations in Quali so the stewards have disqualified his times from Q1. Pointless because he got a penalty yesterday for not having his car weighed when instructed and has to start from the pit lane anyway.

On Quali - Bottas pulled out a stunner right at the end to nick Pole from Lewis.

I swear every race this season we’ve gone into it with Ferrari being the ‘fastest’ car and it’s been Merc 1-2s all the way. It’s kind of funny but I’d prefer a close championship, at least Bottas has come to play this year it seems.

Leclerc was rapid this weekend but fucked up on the worst corner. I would back him to be close to the front 3 very quickly tomorrow. The final sector the Ferrari is quickest but they lost some pace as the temps dropped in Q3 and the tyres wouldn't play as they had been earlier

Kimi has had his times from Quali wiped for breaking a rule (front wing or something) so he goes to the pit lane and Leclerc has now been bumped upto 8th.

Gasly, Kubica and Kimi all starting from the pit lane

F1 back at the Zandvoort track in Holland from next season. Looks like it will be replacing the Spanish Grand Prix on the calendar

No great loss if Barcelona goes. Pretty much always dull races due to the amount of testing they do there.

Alonso wont be part of the Indy 500 next week. Bit of a disaster week really and a crap qualifying session meant he had to take part in shoot out this evening. 6 cars and the top 3 take part and the other three bugger off. He finished 4th.

Standard Monaco Grand Prix in terms of excitement but an amazing driving from Lewis to get a set of medium through 66 laps (Pirelli had them down as being able to do 50 at a push).
Max pushing him for the majority of those laps and they had contact 2 laps from the end. Shame that despite finishing 2nd, Max is in 4th spot due to a 5 second penalty for an unsafe release in the pit lane that ruined Bottas' race. Seb cruised around in 3rd gambling that Lewis would have to pit and then nab victory thanks to the time penalty.

Just seen that. That would have been brutal if the one hadnt stopped in time.

Tried watching the Indy 500 today. Fucks sake, booooooooring.

Bloody hell - reminds me of the awful Tom Pryce incident when the marshall at Kyalami wasn't so lucky.

I have now watched the “Tom Pryce incident” having no idea what it was before. Jesus

Tom Pryce wasn't so lucky himself either. Decapitated.

One of the worst accidents in the history of motorsport. A dreadful thing.

Well, bar the Le Mans disaster obviously.
