The F1 Thread

Both Red Bulls, both Torro Rossos and Alonso will start from the back because of new power units in Russia.

The sport really needs to sort out these engine penalties for next season. Losing engine tokens or constructors points instead of grid places would be much better.

Looking at practice that penalty for the Red Bulls is a massive bonus for Vettel. Without it, fifth is the best he can hope for.

Win for Lewis thanks to team orders. Bottas deserved the win but Merc thinking of the Titles and a 50 point lead is huge with 5 races to go (Japan sounds like it will have horrendous weather next week as well so that could be a lottery). Fantastic move from Lewis though after Seb jumped him on the pit stop.

Away from that, what a race from Max. From the back of the grid he was inside the Top 10 after 2 laps and then led the race as cars pitted and stayed there until 10 laps from the end when he had to pit.

Pole for Lewis ahead of Bottas and Max.

Ferrari borked up Q3. Rain started to fall a little at the end of Q2 and Seb went out on Inters and that was the wrong call. So in for super softs and then the rain came again. 9th for Vettel it is.

I thought Vettel still should have done better, he probably had the best time on the track - it has dried out a bit and the next lot of rain hadn't started. Proved yet again he's crap in the wet / mildly damp.

Very rookie style error. Kerbs are wet so avoid but managed to mess that up.

Should be a good race though. Would expect Seb in the top 4 very quickly.

Also starting to think Red Bull are tampering with Danny Ric's car. Ridiculous amount of failures this season.

Ricciardo did look livid in his interview - torro rosso and their honda engines doing so well won't have helped his mood either.

Might take a while for seb to catch up, it's not the easiest place to overtake at, will make for a good race though.

Well Seb properly cracking under pressure. A daft attempt to pass Max ruins his race after a great start had him up in 4th. 6th place for him and a routine victory for Lewis and the title race is almost over.

A Lewis win and Vettel no higher than 3rd in Austin and it's done.

Yeah, Lewis will win the title this season

George Russell at Williams next season, great news but I just hope that car isn’t as dog shit as it has been this year.

They'd be wise to stick Kubica alongside him but I'm sure that won't happen.

Vettel summoned to the stewards over allegedly failing to slow sufficiently for the red flag in first practice. If found guilty, precedent suggests that could be a three-place grid penalty

Confirmed

Three-place grid penalty for Vettel for not slowing for a red flag in first practice. Whoops...

Seb has got the 3 place penalty

2 pretty pointless Practice sessions today due to the rain. Hamilton 1.2 seconds quicker in P1 and then seemed to go out in P2 just to show how good he is in the rain and is 1.3 seconds quicker. Not a lot learnt for any team though and rain forecast for tomorrow as well

Ain't no implosion like a Ferrari implosion. Let the sackings commence.
