The F1 Thread

I find that rather odd being that he's only been at manor for 5 races- does he have sponsorship? Wehrlein has done a decent job all season and they are both Mercedes drivers aren't they?

There are a few murmurings that Wehrlein is a bit of a tool and FI supposedly weren't impressed with his simulator runs a while back.

They're both Merc protoges, although Ocon has a strange collab with Renault too so I'd have thought he'd have been more likely to head there, but seemingly not.

That's interesting, yeah I remember people saying a while ago that Ocon was heading to Renault

The GP2 finale will be a fascinating one to watch too.

You've got two contenders from the same team who as it stands have no obvious route into F1 as Gasly was overlooked by Toro Rosso and Giovanazzi has no F1 affiliations as his performances have been a big surprise in a rookie season. Obviously whoever wins is immediately ineligible for the following GP2 season so one of them will be in the dark, if they can't secure an F1 seat.

You might end up seeing a battle to finish second so they can keep the seat in what is the most dominant team in junior single seater racing and go again the year after.

Palmer keeps his drive at Renault.

Magz off to Haas it seems

Edit: dumb fuck got the wrong driver...

So Ocon will probably be at Force India, just manor and sauber left then

Ugh to Palmer. One of the dullest most boring individuals since Nigel Mansell.

He's not even that good a driver IMO.

Next year will tell, it's hard to know this season because I'm not sure how good Magnussen is while we know Hulkenburg is really quick. I don't think he's particularly good, comes over as a poor mans Button to me. Nice to have another Brit on the grid though.

I hadn't realised he'd been testing with them last season so it makes more sense than I initially thought. Certainly will be interesting to see if he came compete with Perez

Sauber set to remain unchanged.

K-Mag to Haas leaves a sole slot with Manor as you'd assume Wehrlein will stay on there.

They'll be looking for a paydriver rather than plucking someone from GP2 you'd think.

Emotional return to F1 for:

Ferrari wastes everyone's time by asking for the penalty given to Seb to be looked at again as they have new element that was over looked. That new element....in their opinion Charlie Whiting should have told Max to give up his position to Seb and if he had done that then Seb wouldn't have been in the position to block Ricciardo under braking. Stunning stuff. Also tried to use GPS data but the data they put forward was used by the Stewards when they initially handed out the punishment

The stewards have rightly told Ferrari where to go with that.

Bit damp in Brazil. Grosjean lost control of his car on his drive to the grid and the wall he hit has ended his race.

Could be an interesting race in Brazil, track is very wet and Grosjean has just dropped it on his way to the grid. If Monaco is anything to judge by then Rosberg might struggle

Start delayed by 10 mins. Guess they want to try and start normally instead of a safety car start.
