The F1 Thread

His engine blew up, it happens. Maybe you and Lewis should just accept that.
Meh, if you can easily accept losing through no fault of your own you shouldn't be competing.

Not a Lewis fan Frank?

Not really because whenever he doesn't win he blames everyone else. Today was bad luck, he had been brilliant all weekend, then he re-ignites his conspiracy theory.

I've not known him to blame anyone else before, or even today tbh, as Kenny has explained.

He wants to win, as the best driver in the best car he should win too.

British often seem to think a will to win is something to be ashamed of, very odd.

I applaud his will to win, he is one of the best F1 drivers of the last decade. And yes he had the best car, which sadly for him broke down today. That happens, he needs to accept that and move on.

Anyway that aside, I thought Rosberg did very well to finish third given the incident at the start and then his penalty. On an even playing field I think Hamilton is just that little bit better, but credit to Rosberg today.

The issue he had today wasn't just the fact his engine went pop. His issue is why 6 of his engines have been binned after 16 races. He has only had 1 engine go the course before it needed to be renewed. That's not blaming anyone that is just wanting to know what is going on.

Lewis has held his hands up when he made errors this season. He has blamed himself for the start at Monza, earlier in this at Russia (i think) that led to him being hit and his poor performance in qualifying in Baku.

Oh and on Nico. It was indeed a fine drive and a very mature one until he tried to ram Kimi off the track in a stupid move he didn't have to take. 2 massive DRS zones where had Kimi on toast. He got massively lucky not damage his car in that incident.

Title is all his right now.

Sigh. I just wanted one race where both Mercedes get away 1 and 2 and we get an actual race

I haven't seen it but surely the bad start is driver error?

Not always. Mercs are really struggling with the clutch. There seems to be an issue where it gets "stuck". Been 3 races where it has been driver error but the rest is the car. If the car gets away as it should but in the 2nd stage it is still rolling instead of picking up speed that is the clutch issue.

Wolff has said he thinks it is that issue again. It's a random event, which is why they can't seem to sort it. The car can do 50 perfect starts then all of a sudden it will go again.

Lewis has taken responsibility.

Mercedes have mentioned in the past having issues with a double clutch before. Not sure if they are the only team with a double clutch, if they are they need to bin it as it is costing them more than it is gaining.

I'd pull off better in an A class than Lewis did today so just go out the clutch from that in the car.

Hamilton bad start as always, good race by verstappen and rosberg

Also harder tires like medium and hard were beneficial in this race.. Many overtakes wish it would be all the time

My big hope for next season is that the two fastest teams are close so that the win isn't guaranteed for someone as soon as his teammate has a problem in qualifying or off the start.

Aye, boring with the Mercedes dominance..

All change next season. Different engines, tyre size etc

If Red Bull and Co haven't spent the last 2 years properly developing ready for this then they deserve fook all. Mercs basically gave up on development of their old cars 12 months ahead of the last big change and that resulted with them having the best car for 3 years.

Aye, from what they were saying in commentary it's more of an aero focused change which you would imagine puts Red Bull in the driving seat. Doesn't particularly help us if they and Mercedes just swap places though!

I do like that there is serious competition between the drivers in nearly all the teams, there aren't really number 1 and 2 drivers. Kimi has stepped his game up against Vettel, Verstappen is super quick and is more than a match for Ricciardo and obviously Rosberg and Hamilton are close. I also like Perez and Hulkenburg at Force India, it would be nice if they were able to fight for wins in the future.

It'd be phenomenal to see a proper battle between Lewis, Nico, Seb, Kimi, Dan, Max, Fernando and Stoffel. There's some serious talent around at the moment.

Seems like Hulkenberg is off to Renault, which is pretty surprising. I suppose it's going to be difficult for Force India to break beyond their current limit given they're not a factory outfit and have limited finances, but they always do a good job in providing a competitive car. I imagine Wehrlein would replace him if he moves on.
