The F1 Thread

Add in a few awful starts and this will be the most handed to someone a world championship has ever been

Yeah but the bad starts are his fault and that's what annoys me. The championship shouldn't even be this close so this bad luck hits him harder than it should.

2 of the bad starts were his fault, rest of them were technical issues with the clutch.

It still adds up to more good luck to Nico though. It just annoys me as apart from Singapore Lewis has been faster at every race and is clearly better than him.

It does. Who knows, maybe there is a DNF in the pipeline for Rosberg

Hamilton with a big dig at the team in his interview. Leaning towards favouritism/conspiracy theory too

Hard for him to not get paranoid about something like that when he looks around the grid at all the mercedes engines not having issues, he's literally the only one

Lewis has obviously had the vast majority of the bad luck but Rosberg was quicker in Russia, before Lewis had the issue in Q3 and Baku as well as Singapore.

Rosberg is clearly an inferior driver though. Without the mechanical problems, and even with Rosberg being occasionally quicker, he would have walked this championship.

I'm sure that there is no conspiracy, but I think there are 8 (or more?) Merc powered cars and only one has had engine issues.

Williams and Manor are definitely Mercedes powered. I think there is one other team too.

Basically Hamilton has been shit out of luck this season. It can happen I guess.

He made himself look a bit silly really. But I suppose he was still a little upset with events.
When a team has sent out over 40 engines he is going to ask why only his keep going. No driver on the track would roll over and accept without explanation why that is happening.

When he said someone or something is trying to stop him he was talking in religious terms.

Of course he was.

Of course he was.

"someone from above"

Hamilton is very religous and whenever he wins/loses/fails he puts it down to the ways of the Lord. Look back over numerous interviews he has done before and after races.

Listen to his full interview. The conspiracy theory is back.

Not from him it isn't. People sayiing so on Twitter doesn't mean thats what he thinks you know.

At no point this season has he agreed there is a conspiracy. What he has done is question a couple of things, like why his team was swapped before this season and he got Nico's engineers. Fair question to ask. Today he asks why only his engines are going pop, again a fair question when 8 cars are rolling around the track with a Merc engine. If others were going, the answer is there - unreliable (like Renault engines last year) but just 1 set are going. Has he been unlucky to get a bad batch of 6 engines or are the team fitting it getting wrong.

As for the interview, saw it as it happened. An angry man who has just had a victory taken from him due to yet another failure out of his hands. If I was him, I would told the media to piss off and smashed up the Pit.....

Jut to clarify "Hamilton said: "A higher power. It feels right now as if the man above or a higher power is intervening a little bit. But I feel I have been blessed with so many opportunities. So I have to be grateful for those. While this does not feel great, I have to remain grateful."

Mercedes swich the mechanics between the drivers to prevent staff loss if a driver moves on ala Alonso to McLaren.

Apparently the Mechanics were decided, drivers told (same as previous season) but when they rolled up for testing they had changed their minds and switched the teams around and the drivers had no idea about it. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal but as any sportsmen does, when things aren't going right reasons are looked for. Obvious one for Lewis at the start of the season after 4 problems in a row.
