The F1 Thread

Stewards also looking the Q1 times.

Apparently 11 cars failed to get within 107% of the quickest time in Q1. BBC seem to think they are going to actually enforce this rule, which would see the likes of Max V and Ricciardo lose their 3rd & 4th place on the grid. If they do enforce the rule, I think they will be going too far. Q1 was a mess and half it spent in the rain.

Looks like they have done it!! Max down to 13th and Riciardo to 12th if they have

Nothing official yet but Renault have lodged a request to allow Palmer to race after failing to be within the 107% (double kick as he was on a proper flying lap in Q3 when the Manor crash caused the final red flag)

FIA applies article 35.1. So 11 cars lose their Q2 or Q3 times and start where they finished in Q1.....but wait the FIA then unapplies it, allowing Red Bull, Force India and Bottas to keep places: "Exceptional circumstances"

What an absolute load of bollocks and waste of everyones time. I presume the Stewards didn't fancy a night out in Budapest and wanted to faff around at the track a bit longer.

that is some absolute bonkers from F1..this competition is turning to shit with enginge and gearbox failures among other things

Just watched and caught up with this

What the hell was that faff all about by the stewards?! Mental stuff. 4 red flag stoppages and a drying track are obvious exceptional circumstances.

I bet Red Bull complained.
Yep definitely Horner's M.O.

And he's just admitted on the race build up that they didn't formally complain but "asked the question" to the stewards about whether he lifted enough.

Ricciardo is absolutely flying. Lewis seems to be struggling badly.

Wonder if it's just the tyres or something else, could get very interesting here

4 laps left and the gap is 1.3s

Hamilton wins, has the most wins at Hungary and now leads the Championship table

Whenever it is a straight Hamilton v Rosberg scrap there is only one winner.

Obviously there will be grid problems to come as he has used too much hardware so far this season, but I expect Hamilton to now pull away and win the title comfortably.

Good race for Hamilton. I enjoyed the battle between Raikkenen and Max the most, but qualifying was also dramatic.

Bit of needle in the Press Conference between Lewis & Nico.

Lewis was asked about the Double Yellow flag incident and spoke about the Stewards needing too clarify the rules as in over 20 years of racing he has been told Double Yellows mean "be prepared to stop " and he feels slightly lifting for a few seconds is not preparing for the possibility of stopping and no one should get a purple sector time under the flags. Also mentioned Hulkenburg did similar and got away with it, although that was a single yellow, at Austria. Nico didn;t like that

He's got a point. Anyway, Hamilton chose the perfect day to get his best start of the season, I'm pretty sure whoever got to the first corner ahead would have won - it's nearly impossible to overtake at Hungary

So the radio ban has now been lifted during races, no Halo for 2017 and track limits will no longer be penalised.

Just a ridiculous state of affairs. Basically new rules for every race.
