The F1 Thread

What a farce of an idea. Whoever thought it would work in F1 needs slapping

The Drivers told Bernie to fuck it off before it was rumber stamped. There will now be massive pressure from the TV companies to do that. They don't want the exciting part of the session to have just 2 cars on the track.

Well, looks like the idea will be binned early next week. Massive success that was.

Really?? thats great news if thats the case! :)

Changes can be made if the Teams start a vote and if all send their votes to the F1 Commission saying they agree to bin the new style and revert to the old one it will happen. Totto Wolff and a couple of others have said they expect it to happen on Monday.

Alright thanks Kenny for the info, great news!

Bernie being a nobjockey though. He doesn't want to change it and says " "If we go back, Mercedes would be first and second."

Yeah, unlike this weekend you corrupt old tit.

Bernie isn't happy at his pet idea being shot down but he is going to lose this one. If they want to use this format they need to make it unlimited tyres or it just is going to be a complete farce.

Not really sure why Bernie wants a mixed up grid to punish the Mercs for being good. He never did during the years of Ferrari or Red Bull dominance.

Lewis Hamilton's idea

"We could try something new for the next four races. Bring us some more tyres, give us more time, make us go out and use them, give us more laps, so people are constantly watching so when the cars cross the line at the end you don't know who's going to get pole position."

Crazy idea of letting people race without restrictions

He owns the company that has created the timing software for F1....can't think why he doesn't want it binned. Bit like he owns the Logistics company that ships F1 stuff around the World and he puts a race 7000 miles away from Canada to start 5 days later. Got to line those pockets to pay off the courts somehow

It was a decent idea in theory but at odds with the current tyre rules. As already mentioned, you need the cars out there all the time to make it work.

There's a meeting Sunday morning (Aussie time) to discuss binning it. They will all agree and then the vortex will be put forward on Monday I would think.

Every ninety seconds just won't work. Not enough time for the last man to complete a lap. Bloody stupid.

There is plenty of time if they're out on track. If they're sat in the garage it's not going to work.

In the last quali session Ricciardo had no sooner crossed the line before he was eliminated. That was poor.

Yeah I did notice in Q3 that they only just had time to get one flying lap done before someone went out. Lot of pressure on straight away.

Would this work? All cars run in three 15-minute sessions; grid decided on aggregate of best lap in each. All teams must use 3 grades of tyres (unless wet), one grade only per session (free choice of which order they're used in), and may use two sets of tyres per session.

How about an hour-long qualifying session. Drivers are ranked on the grid in order of the fastest lap over the entire hour session. Unlimited tyres.

In other words, the way it worked for years before Bernie and Co. started fucking around with it.

They should be forced to qualify in 2CVs. That would be fun viewing, and we'd see who the best driver really is.

Rosberg wins.

Hamilton messed up his start and was down to 6th. Huge crash involving Alonso that is amazing he walked away from.

Hamilton made a further mistake when back into 2nd with 6 laps to go and then had a battle with Vettel for 2nd but Seb made an error on the final lap.

Top bantz from Seb after the race as he chucks the 2nd place cap at Lewis.

I have just seen the incident involving Alonso. I am amazed that he escaped from that unhurt.
