The F1 Thread

I see Ricciardo has been disqualified for some kind of fuel flow issue - would that have given an advantage?

Yes, it would have done - there's more peak power if you push more fuel through when you turn the engine up. He still couldn't use more than his 100kg total fuel, but it would have made it easier for him to keep ahead of Magnussen.

Red Bull not overly happy as the they had a dodgy fuel sensor in practice, replaced it and that broke and FIA told them to use the one from Friday again.

Yep, but seeing as the regs say "if there's a problem, we'll tell you how to deal with it", and they ignored the instruction before the race; when they were told several times during the race to change the settings and they'd be let off, and they didn't; you've got to say they don't have a leg to stand on.

Didn't see that bit. Just Horner crying about it.

Fook 'em then.

A nice touch prior to the start of the Malaysian Grand Prix. A minute's silence for those on board MH370 followed by Malaysia's national anthem.

It looks like it will be a dry race, though it will be extremely hot for the drivers.

Other than the first stint it was a terribly dull race. It needed some rain to spice it up.

Great battle between Hamilton & Rosberg for 1st place .

Brilliant that Mercedes are letting them race each other.

It's a shame that F1 has gotten to the point where we have to say that but then again I'm not a huge fan of how the team mate system works.

I dunno - when Vettel has to let Ricciardo through that has some amusement value.

Sounds like one hell of a race. Looking forward to the highlights show tonight.

Before the safety car Hamilton had secured the win. The first 5 or so laps after the safety car were superb. A very well earned win for Lewis

The Mercedes is streets ahead of the other cars. Vettel is also being out driven by his team mate.

Vettel had problems with DRS to contend with as well though.

Brilliant race today, best one I've seen in a long time.

The ratakes by Lewis after being passed by rosberg were superb, he did very well to win after another idiotic move by Maldonado nearly ruined his race (did for massa too, thought might get 3rd).

The pace of the 2 mercs after the safety car was phenomenal - think they were 20s clear by the end, but racing each other the whole way

Much better than the faux racing served up between the red bulls over the last few season.

Brilliant stuff by Hamilton to hold onto the lead, would have been a killer mentally if he'd lost that race through no real fault of his own.

Mercedes are on another level at the moment. And what has happened to Red Bull?

Not a lot. They are with the group of teams that now at the same level with all the changes and Mercedes are just a Million Miles ahead of them. Give it another 5 or so races and the pack (far) behind Mercedes will start to break up and the likes of Red Bull will be a lot closer to them.

Start of this season is looking like the one where Button won the title. His car was miles better and he got the wins on board and then the likes of Ferrari and McLaren caught up but the damage was done.

Also both Force India and Williams cars finished ahead of the Ferrari cars. I cannot imagine that they will allow that situation to continue. Ferrari should be up there competing at the front.

Rapidly losing patience with Ferrari.

LDM has been banging on for years that aero is too important and that engines should be the most important component.

Well here we are Luca, and you're still miles behind.
