The F1 Thread

Brabham, Lotus and Tecno in F1 in the 1970s too.

I had that car in my first scalextric set...

Bernie wins a pyrhic victory in his first case. The German bank doesnt get the compensation it wanted, but the entire deal is ruled as corrupt and Bernie is called unreliable and untruthful by the judge.

And now he's going ahead with his pathetic double points concept for the final three races. Utter clown, fuck him off before he ruins the sport even more.

Red Bull struggled again today with only 15 laps done. Power train issues again apparently. They've only done a sixth of the laps that Mercedes have done over the two tests. Mercedes were 1.6s faster than anyone else today, though the McLarens were about 7 tenths off that yesterday.

Thoroughly enjoying Red Bull struggling, I have no doubt they'll turn it round pretty quickly but I hope we at least get a couple of races in before they start to dominate. Only hope is if the Renault engine isn;t up to scratch there's only so much they can do.

They had it on a big ugly square thing too i think, can't remember what it was called.

You might be thinking of the Delta S4, which was the last of the Group B cars which were outlawed when amongst other things Henri Toivonen killed himself in Corsica when he went off the road. Visually they were basically hideous, and only the Martini livery redeemed it.

The much more aesthetic Lancia 037 preceded it and it was followed by the Group A Integrales, all in Martini colours.

Vividly remember Markku Alen in the 037 and Delta S4 in the Lombard RAC Rally at Weston Park back when they had it go round the country. Shame it has to be daylight only and shortened these days.

Just Williams confirming their car will look cool. Good stuff at the best of times, even better currently with how shit most of the liveries are.

I kind of liked their plain dark blue.

Meh. Like Bear, I much prefer the dark blue. It looks better than a few of the horrendous mock ups I've seen, but it doesn't really do anything for me.

I really like that, pleased they look like they'll be competing up the front again this year too, I still detest the fact that an energy drink company is dominating the sport.

Schumacher showing small signs of improvement according to the latest press release. This goes against an earlier report from 'a source' which suggested that he was all but brain dead.

Certain parts of the media have been getting itchy fingers over the need to report something and the lock down by his family have meant they have had to do what Journo's do best - Make Shit Up.

Hamilton is the man to beat in this race. He seems a bit quicker than everyone else.

I quite enjoyed the race yesterday, shame that Hamilton didn't even get a lap in before his car broke but there was some good battles through the field for most of the race and more people finished than expected. I was pleased that for once the Red Bull that broke was Vettel's not his team mate but now I see Ricciardo has been disqualified for some kind of fuel flow issue - would that have given an advantage? Shame for him as he drove brilliantly, as did Magnussen, not sure what it says about Button that he got out driven by a rookie who'd never been to that circuit before.

Well, seeing as Button pulled back a 30 second deficit after a few laps when he was stuck behind a queue to a 5 second deficit at the end, I'm not sure "out driven" is the right word.
