Shit - he did. Bugger bugger bugger as I really wanted him in. Oh well - I will go for someone else.

I am determined to get Pirlo in, so he can go into my number one slot.

Zidane (I'd have him 6 x if I could, magnificent player)
Scholes
Pirlo
Gazza
Okocha
Modric

This (in spades:))
I would advocate a ban for anyone not picking him as no.1 (or at all).
But then I've never understood the clamouring for Scholes, and plenty have picked him...

I'd go further than a ban and make it a mandatory transfer to small Heath alliance

Scholes was fantastic, greatest player of his type ive seen.

My biggest issue with Scholes is people describing him as the most complete midfielder ever when he couldn't tackle for toffee. Certainly not a bad player, but wouldn't come close to my top six.

Pirlo can't tackle either. Scholes was an absolute genius.

Genuinely surprised at the number of people omitting Xavi and Iniesta. Two players whose haul of trophies will be bordering on impossible to match.

Scholes is a bona fide legend. Slightly tainted by his final three years at international level being shite and no, it wasn't because Sven put him on the left wing. Then he was done with England before he was 30.

Look who's winning these, they've all been unbelievable at club and national level. Couldn't say that about Scholesy bar maybe a brief purple patch between 1999 and 2001 (when England were shit).
